HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-07-2019 Town Board Budget Hearing Minutes ApprovedVirgil Town Board Budget Hearing November 07, 2019 1 | P a g e TOWN OF VIRGIL 2020 TOWN BUDGET HEARING November 07, 2019 PRESENT: Supervisor John Kaminski, Deputy Supervisor Jereme Stiles, Board Members Matt Denniston, Gary Pelton, Town Clerk/Collector Alane Van Donsel, Gary and Sandy Stamba 6:00 PM- PUBLIC HEARING THE 2020 TOWN OF VIRGIL PROPOSED BUDGET Town Clerk Van Donsel read the legal notice that was posted in the Cortland Standard on October 25, 2019, posted at the Town Hall and the Town of Virgil website: NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Board of the Town of Virgil shall hold a public hearing on the proposed budget of the Town of Virgil for the Year 2020 on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 6:00 PM at the Virgil Town Hall, 1176 Church Street, Virgil NY 1 3045. At said public Hearing, any person may be heard in favor or against the proposed budget as complied or for or against any ite m or items therein contained. A copy of said budget is on file with the Virgil Town Clerk and may be reviewed by any interested person during regular offic e hours or you can view the proposed budget on the town’s website at www.Virgilny.org The proposed salaries for the elected Officials for the year 2020 are: Town Board Members (4) $2,100 each/year Town Justice $13,000 /year Town Supervisor $ 6,000 /year Town Clerk/Collector $28,000 /year Highway Superintendent $48,000 /year SUPERVISOR KAMINKSI ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY COMMENTS COMMENTS: Sandy Stramba, said she was interested in the budget. She and Gary Stramba said that they were interested in attending meetings. Stramba wanted to know if the taxes are going up to $2.85 per thousand like it said on the internet. Supervisor Kaminski said that it is going up .08¢ per thousand because of the raise in the cost of salt and sand. He said that salt and sand is up 20% this year. Kaminski said that they kept the budget otherwise flat. Member Denniston asked about the cost of Workers Compensation, he said he’s like to see the hard numbers. Kaminski said they will have them at the next town board meeting. With no further business to discuss, Member Stiles moved to adjourn the Budget Hearing at 6:07 PM.
