Final Meeting of the Year 1973, Town Board of Town of Cortlandville held at the Town Hall, 15 Terrace Road, Supervisor, Frank K. Taylor presiding: Members present were Justices,Donald Eaton and Ron. Fish,, Councilmen Ray E. Miller and Sherman Griswold. Also present were Deputy Town Clerk M. Brookins, Bookeeper for Supervisor's Accounts, Rudy Krauklis, Town A.ttorney,John Gardner, and Mrs. Christine Canestaro. Others present were Del Palm,and Shirley Fish. Town Clerk Brookins read minut4s of the last meeting and there were no corrections. Mr. Brookins read a letter of acknowledgement of his resignation as Town Clerk of Cortlandville, from Secretary of State John P. �L�o-menzo. �A� Resolution regarding this resignation was offered by Supervisor Frank K. Taylor, (SEE COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION ON LAST PAGE OF THIS MINUTE BOOK) Due to vacancy in the office of the Town- Clerk as of January lst. 1974, after some discussion regarding the application of Christine Canestaro, on motion of Don Eaton, seconded by Ray Miller the appointment of Christine Canestaro to fill this vacancy ..tor_ 1974., This, was unanimous. This appointment will be until.&.RP;.31 t, the next General Election, for the remainder of the two year term for Town Clerk. Mrs. Canestaro informed the Town Board that she was appointing Milly Brookins as her Deputy, a position she has held for 18 years under the present Town Clerk. Motion was made by R. Miller seconded by D. Eaton that all bills as presented by the Town Clerk and audited by the Town Board be paid. This motion was passed.unanimously. Motion was made by Sherman Griswold seconded by Ron Fish that the meeting adjourn. this was unanimous. Lelan M. Brookins, Town Clerk Town of Cortlandville 3DD Upon motion by . F•rank• K•o •TapyloD • • • o and seconded Donald Eaton the following Resolution was, junanimously adopted. WHEREAS, Our highly esteemed associate, Hon. Lelan M. Brocni'r.. Town Clerk, has tendered his resignation as indicated in the I�iinut� lof the Town Board of its last regular meeting held on December 19, i 11973, as elected Town Clerk of the Town for the calendar years 9;�•.�J and 1975 ; and "KIEREAS, The members of this Board feel that through his wisd&_ and efforts, the organization of the duties of the office ice of Toutn Clark have become so firmly established and its business sc wel de- velope-d,,that his withdrawal as Town Clerk will not endange^ Its future, -and WHEREAS, The record indicates that Lelan M. Brookins has held the office of Town Clerk for eighteen (18) consecutive years, s�rvit:` the office with great executive ability, keen judgment, intrepid i honesty and ability to win friends, he should receive our whole hearted commendation and we feel that he possesses all of these requirements in the highest degree and that his retirement leaves (vacancy which will be very difficult to replace, Be it RESOLVED, That we, officials of the Town of Cortlandville, accept the resignation of Lelan M. Brookins, with 'regrets, eff ectiv'< January 1, 1974.,and take this opportunity to extend to him the assurance of our continued friendship and to ' express the hope and lbelief that good fortune will smile upon him; and s RESOLVED, That this Resolution be made a part of the Minutes E of this meeting of the Town Board, and that a copy thereof be trans, matted to Lelan M.
