Sovocool, Councilman Gordan C. VanBenschoten, Councilman Do=nald E. Cuivaings, Councilman Absent,: Joseph N. Graham, Councilman Absent; Jack Fitzgerald, Attorney Also present; Leland Cornellus Purpose e m8eting was to close out year -end business and perform annual accounting of all town records. Claim Nos. 358 to 390 of the Highwwj Fwd in the amount of $14,693.06; CJ aim Nos. X01 to 520 of the General Fund in the amount of W , 2 . 0 ; and Claim NO.. 19 of the Federal Revenue Shaxing Pund in the amount of $i48.00 were submitted for audit. Mr. VanBenschoten moved that the bills be paid and instructed Clerk to draw warrant for them. Seconded by Mr. Sovocool. Ayes - Sovocool, VanBenschoten, CuImOings, Robinson (Absent - Graham). ;V It was noted tha'k the ToL,•n Employees would be paid an Decembex' 31, 1985. This pay period would encompass two weeks and one day. Supervisox informed board members that the dates of aLssessmernt have been changed by the State. On Naroh 1st, the tax status date, conditions will be filed. Grievenoe Day will be the third Tuesday in May and Tentative Tax Roll will be issued. May 1. The 1nal Assessment. Roll must be filed by Jejly 1. MxEs. Robinson urged that Councilmen inforia people that they should express any concerns to the Board an Grievence Day, noting that it does make a difference. RESOLUTIO,lI N0. ` - ISSUING PETTY CASH TO THE TOW CLERY FOR THE PURPOSE OF COLLECTING TAXES Moved ky Mr. VanBenschoten, seconded, by Mr. Sovocool Ayes Sovocool, VanBenschoten, Cumiidngs, Robinson {Absent - xaham) RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be authorised. to issue a check for the sum of $100.00 to the ToTfm Clerk to be used as petty cash for the purpose of collecting property taxes. y 270 A discussion was held on the problems concerning the root'. Mrs. Robinson asked for suggestions as to how we could cope with the leaking and voiced her concern that the area immediately over the safe was of great importance. She also suggested that the Board Members consider having another sloping roof constructed over the existing flat roof. She was asked to check the contract for the original work done on the roof and find out how long the quarantee was in affect. The contract did not indicate any guarantee. Further discussion followed and the matter was tabled for further investigation. Discussion of a .Proclamation issued 'by the State prompted the Board Members to issue the following RESOLUTION N0. )q - PROCIAUTION - MARTIN LU'T'HER KING, JR. 'DAY Moved by Mr. VanBenschoten, seconded by Mr. Cummings Ayes - Sovocool, VanBenschoten, Cummings, Robin son, (Absent - Graham) PROCLAIMED TH=AT: WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. assumed the leadership of the American Civil Rights movement at the most critical juncture, and WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led that movement without violence or hatred, but with love, and WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life to achieving social change non - violently, and WHEREAS, the Congress of the U=nited States has made Dr. King's birthday a National Holiday, and WHEREAS, it is desirable to observe Dr. King's birthday in an approPr iate manner., reflecting on his philosophy I, Teresa M. DAY There 'being no further business, Mrs. Robinson moved to adjourn meeting, seconded by Mr. Cummings, at 12:25 P.M.
