At a Regular Meeting held by the Enfield Town Board
on October 2, 1985, the following was discussed:
Old Business
5. Discussion on Fire District -
Roger Laue's feeling we should go fire district and feels
it is the general feeling of the fire company also.
Roger Hubbell - tonight can only propose to establish district
and set up publie=hearing.
Roger Laue proposes to establish a fire district in the Town of
Enfield. Seconded by Mr. Robert Scofield. Mr. Roger Laue
proposes to hold the public hearing on November 13, 1985.
New Business
1. Roger Laue made a motion to set-up a public hearing on
November 13, 1985 at 7:30 PM to establish a fire district in
the Town of Enfield. David Bock seconded the motion. Motion
carried.

STATEMENT OF INTENTION OF MANNER IN WHICH TO PROVIDE FIRE PROTECTION
At present the Town of Enfield provides fire protection for the town
by contracting with Enfield Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. annually.
The contract providing fire protection for 1986 cost the Town of
Enfield $63,275.00 and the cost for 1987 is anticipated to be about
$68,500.00. (Our preliminary budget will be passed on October 1, 1986.)
If it approved that Enfield becomes a fire district, then the Fire Com-
missioners will have to contract with Enfield Volunteer Fire Co., Inc.
or in whatever manner the Fire Commissioners determine.
Attached is list of firefighters statistics as to how many hours are
used by the fire company for fire fighting and training.
ANTICIPATED EXPENDITURES FOR PROPOSED ENFIELD FIRE DISTRICT:
At this point, the only anticipated expediture for the proposed
Enfield Fire District (in addition to the normal replacement of
equipment becuase of changes in technology and regulations that
govern those providing fire protection) is a new fire station.
The need for a new fire station is recognized because presently
the trucks must be parked in tandem inside the fire house. This
is a great concern because there is always the possiblity that
the inability to start a truck and move it out of the way of the
other could result in a disasterous delay.
One study to determine the cost of a new fire station resulted in
an estimate of approximately $400,000.00. This was a preliminary
study and the fire company feels sure that many revisions could be
made to pare that price to a significantly lower figure.
The matter of a new fire station is still in the "talking stage."
