HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-02-09TOWN OF DANBY TOWN BOARD MEETING MINUTES The regular meeting ofthe Danby Town Board was called to order at 8:20-tat the Danby Town Hall, 1830 Danby Road, Town of Danby, Tompkins County, New York, February 9th, 1987. The pledge of allegiance was led by Supervisor Burdick. Board members present; Councilperson Councilperson Councilman Councilman Supervisor Julia Taglivento Dorothy Roberts Ric Dietrich Ed Shay Don Burdick Others present; Frank Proto, Roy &ary(;Casterline, Pamela Clermont, Don Graham, Bob Maycumber, Herb Engma-n, Ed Roberts, Walt & Carol Sczepanski,and others that stayed after meeting on junk law. The minutes of the January 12th 1986 meeting were approved by the board. Privilege of the floor; Frank Proto reported the county moved up timetable to install new transformer, based on hired consultants recomendations in order to avoid the potential for•,a PCB leak. Also, there will be a public information meeting on Solid Wast'e Management to be held February 19th, 1987, at the former Danby school at 7;30. Councilperson Roberts reported that the board recieved notice of the Public Safety Building open house on February 28th,1987 on Sunday 1 -4 PM. Frank Proto also recieved letter from Tompkins County Health Dept. stating that Mr. Anthony Renzi And Reverend Simpson were cited violations concerning the Empire State Speech Camp. Town of Groton Waste Commgsilon has written a proposal for benifit sharing. Danby will also put some kind of proposal together, New Bussiness; Don Graham reported Planning Board meets next week and Supervisor Burdick asked him to look into Groton Landfill proposal. Use of the town hall for 4 -H Evaluation on February 28th from 9 -12 was approved by the board. Ed Shay had inquiry into a spotlight on the flag.Ed Roberts reported that light from corner shines on the flag. Ric Dietrich suggested we look into putting light on flag and Supervisor Burdick will look into it. Ro Caste 1 y r ine reported a fire and there was good cooperation from 7 Fire Companies and 11 th a e water systems worked well. EMC- Herb Engman reported there is a February 17th meeting on Radion in the Ithaca City Council chambers. Radion has caused cancer and is known to be in the state of Penn. The purpose of this hearing was to review the junk law. Board members present; Councilperson Dorothy Roberts Zoning Board members present were Councilperson Julia Tag liavento Edward Roberts Councilman Ric Dietrich Elizabeth Roe Councilman Edward Shay Supervisor Donald Burdick Others present; Frank Proto, Don Graham, Pam Clermont, Ken Coddington, Herb Engman, Walter Sczepanski Carol Sczepanski, Rick Dobson, Bob Maycumber, David Maycumber, Robert Roe, John 5heperson,SY, Joel Gagnon, Vera Schilling, Nancy Wetzel, Roy & Mary Casterline, Rosalind French, Lloyd French, Sr.Ernest Wright, Debbie MaycLober, Margo Ferral, Elizabeth Roe, Charolette Mayo, Valerie Sheperson, and others. The hearing started at 7;10 with the town clerk reading the Ithaca Journal, Supervisor Burdick read the changes in some of the Don Graham went over the junk law briefly explaining each paragraph Rick Dobson asked for anyone to speak for the junk law. owner was not happy with neighbors property appeareance,he should put up for referendum. He also said what is defined as junk? He said no law rule is retroactive, anything in existence before complaint is liable for any law suits. He questioned -some parts considered junk can be recycled. Maycumber feels law would cost taxpayers to enforce. Herb Engman felt better definition of junk law was needed. Examples; composit piles; brush piles. Also people who have junk cars have no place to take them. Coucilman Dietrich felt the law a good idea and it was his hope that by enforcing the law it would encourage people to move to this area. It is councilman Dietrich opinion that the law is enforceable. The meeting ended at 8:20 .
