We were unable to agree on a.contract for fire protection for 1984. At this meeting we lowered our contract proposal by a considerable amount. In response to our proposal the Town Board did not accept our offer, or did they offer us a proposal. The Town Board officials are presenting the contract -figures in percentages, showing we are asking for an increase of 59%- 68% over our present contract. What we would like to express to the taxpayers is though the percentages look high, the actual dollar increase is minimal. We are askingfor an increase of .40 per thousand of assessed valuation. Which in effect if-yoi2-assessed valuation is 50,000 dollars your increase of fire tax would be 20.00 a year. The Fire Company needs the public support. -What we are asking is for an increase to cover our operating expenses which the Contract has failed to do the past several years. We need this money to stay with our ever increasing cost, the same as you do trying to meet yours. Please contact a Town Official and "let them kno. you;,support us in_Pur efforts. Enfield Fire Co.
