MEMORANDUM T0:
FROM
Planning Board Members
Peter A. Curtiss
Although we will not have a regular meeting this month, we are having an informal
meeting at my house to (hopefully) finish up the zoning ordinance rework we started
on our special extra meeting June 27. The date is this Thursday, August 22 at
8 P.M. As the auctions add, refreshments will be served.
Hope you had a good summer. We had a most interesting trip to Sweden, Norway-
and Denmark. If you didn't get a card, it is one of many that something happened
to in Bergen, Norway. Sorry; it may come yet.
The June minutes are enclosed. No significant subdivision news since, except Mr.
Brown of Ellis Hollow Creek Road has a road already built near his property with
prospects for some sales and he has submitted plans to me. I would like to
review them with you all Thursday.
As part of finishing our zoning ordinance review on Thursday, I would like you to
read over the Federal Beautification regulations regarding signs, sent to you by
Mr. Broadhead.
Finally, I don't know now whether we will make the September target date for a
public hearing on the zoning or not: We had expected to in June, but it has
been impossible to do more on the rework than we've done in June 27th and this
Thursday's meeting. It will be tight to get a complete retype ready for September,
assuming we complete everything this Thursday. We'll try.
The official town map is finally almost done. Before I left on vacation I spent
the morning with Tom Payne in the County office, and two weeks ago I spent time
with one of Thomas G. Miller's draftsmen who will add on the new roads. They
were all very pleased to correct their county maps with our new information.
Anyways, the Town Board will have a new map by the September meeting. Speaking
of roads, I intend to straighten out Barbara Bell concerning this road name
"fuss" she generated with a recent Journal article I will read tonight. It is
a case of her not apparently checking with the right people.
Hope to see you Thursday

MEMORANDUM TO: Planning Board Members
FROM: Pete Curtiss
We accomplished a great deal at our August 22 special meeting (Hardesty, Curtiss,
Hanford, Reed attending), but we are not done. Simplification of the zoning
ordinance is not easy. The Greenwood, Michigan town ordinance we have been
working with has been most helpful, however, and we have already incorporated
some of 1.ts language.
We all agreed after that meeting we could not wait so long again to "get back on
the ordinance. So we will meet again on Thursday, September 12, at my house to
continue our revising. We will have other business that next week at our
regular meeting (September 19) and can use what time is left on the zoning
ordinance then, too.
Please try to make it on September 12th - - my house, 8 P.M.
Thanks.
