HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-08-11;'OWN OF DANBY TOWN BOARD MEETING MINUTES August 17, 798' The regular meeting of the Danby .'own Board was called to order at 8:00 PM at the Danby Town Hall, 1830 Danby Road, Town of Danby, County of Tompkins, New York, August 11, 1986. The pledge of allegiance was led by Supervisor. Board .members present: Councilperson Dorothy Roberts Councilperson Julia Tagl.iavento Councilman Ri. Dietrich • Supervisor. Donald Burdick Board member absent: Councilman Edward Shay Othe.,vs present: Edward M_. Roberts, Sandra .Strong, Roy & Mary Casterline, Pete Coddington, Mildred Miller, Robert & Elizabeth Roe, Joel Gagnon, Rick Dobson, Councilperson Roberts moved to approve the July 14, 1986 minutes as presented, seconded by Councilperson Tagliavento, the town carried interest:. "'he town board felt such an event could not be held due to liability insurance requirements and alcoholic beverage (chanpagne) will on the premises. The Town Clerk will notify Mrs. Greene of the Board's decision. Committee Reports: Community Council: Sandra Strong reported they had 64 children attend th6 ;summer recreation program this year. A written report was presented. Highway: Pete reported all fuel tanks have to be inspected by the Sto3tde by December 27, 198?. He said the tanks at the highway barns are quite and board should consider replacing these tanks before the inspectio2is completed. He felt the board should put this expense in the 1987 town budget. Pete also reported they are in need of a new cinder spreader; cost to be approximately $3900. He questioned if monies out of account A6132.4 could be used for this expense. Mildred Miller commented monies could come from • the general fund account )'or such an expense.. Pete also said some youths from downtown were hired to help with the creek cleanup from Jennings Pond flood damage back in March. He was very unhappy with the work the boys did; they were unreliable. When they shored up to work, they would work for only a very short. time. Pete's crew have been paving a section of East Miller Road. Senior Citizens: Councilperson Roberts the group will be taking a trip to Saratoga this week. Zoning: Written report presented. Building permits were issued for one new residence and three additions /storage buildings. Dog :va:rden: Written report presented. Number of dogs impounded were 11; 6 were euthanized due to sickness, age and aggressive behavior, the remaining were either adopted out or redeemed by owner. 204 Town Board Meeting: August. 11, 1986 Comm_itte Reports, cont'd. page 2 Planning Board: Due, to the absenr_e or Don Graham, Joel Gagnon repotted they had a good discussion at their last meeting between the '7own Board and Planning Board on future plans; mainly, working out the problems with the proposed junk law. Water Distirct: Roy Casterline questioned if the budget request forms for 1987 have been sent out. The Town Clerk informed him they are being mailed this week. Roy reported things are quit with the Water District. Board of Zoning Appeals: Ed Roberts reported there are two hearings coming up this .month, consisting o road frontage. Ed also reported Royal Lipscomb has moved out the area so they .may be looking for another BZA member. 0 Eire District: Councilman Dietrich the district has put in a new standpipe at Jennings Pond. the Youth Program: Councilman Dietrich was disappointed in the work program used by Danby. It did not fan out as well as he would carried hoped it would. New Business: RESOLUTION 28 TRANSFER FROM ACCOUNT DA9040.8 1'O ACCOUN DA9050.8 THE AMOUNT" OF $786.00 TO PAY UPiEMPLOKAIENT INSURANCE. Moved by Councilman Dietrich Seconded by Councilperson Roberts Roll Call: Dietrich - aye Roberts - aye Tagliavento - aye Burdick - aye Warrants: Councilman Dietrich moved to approve payment of the Highway (CHIPS) Fund #8 in the amount of $5,028.66, seconded by Councilperson Roberts, carried unanimously. Councilman Dietrich moved to approve payment of the Highway Fund #8 in the amount of $6,211.39, seconded by Councilperson Tagliavento, carried unanimously. Councilperson Tagliavento moved to approve payment or the West_ Danby Water District Fund #8 in the amount of $105.50, seconded by Councilperson Roberts, carried unanimously. Councilperson Roberts moved to approve payment of the General Fund Warrant #8 in the amount. of $2,191.54, seconded by Councilperson Tagliavento, carried unanimously. Councilperson Roberts moved to accept the Supervisor's monthly reports as presented, seconded by Councilman Dietrich, carried unanimously.
