HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-08-18Tenth keeting TOWN OF DRYDEN PLANNING BOARD August 18, 1950 The tenth meeting was called by the Chairman at 8:15 p.m. on August 18 • with Mr. Gridley, Mr. Whitford, Mr. Abrams, Mr. Paterson, Mr. McGory, Mr. Har- 02v io. rington, Mr. Sadd, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Hanshaw! and Mr�p Wallick present. The minutes of the ninth meeting were read and approved. September 5 was suggested as first choice, and September 8 as second choice as the date for the next meeting. The next meeting will be held with Mr. Newman in attendance. Mr. Sadd will propose the dates to Mr. Newman and advise the Secretary as to when to send announcements. The Chairman then introduced the speaker for the meeting, Mr. Phillips Wallick, Director of Planning for the Greater Ithaca Planning Board. The area served by this Board was described as being City of Ithaca, Town of Ithaca and Cayuga Heights Village. Mr. Wallick explained that the G.I.P.B. was formed voluntarilly when the county was unwilling to start county "wide planning • officially. The municipalities signed articles and paid entrance (or yearly) fees as follows: City $4000, Town $2000, and Village $1000. Their objectives are: 01) To estimate future needs and coordinate them in order to meet them when they arise. (2) To keep available a reservoir of technical information for solving local zoning and planning problems. Other policies will be decided by members, Financial requirements for membership will be determined by the benefits which that municipality will receive. January 1 is the dpy members pay dues. After answering some questions, Mr. Wallick explained that the federal govern- ment has apportioned $25,000 to the G.I. P. B. which will be spent on having a long -term master plan made by a special firm of consultants. This plan will result in speciEif suggestions made to city, town and village zoing and planning boards as to future expansion industrially and re$iekentially. Mr. Sadd expressed the idea 'q I 0- 0 L 2 - Tenth Meeting T0WN OF DRYDEN PLANNING BOARD August 18, 1959 that the Town of Dryden Planning Board might investigate the possibility of obtaining an associate membership in the G.I.P.B. The general opinion expressed by the group was that more information is needed as to future plans and ideas of the G.I.P.B. To that end various members of the Dryden Planning Board were assigned members of the G.I.P.B. to explore their personal feelings concerning what they hope to accomplish. Mr. Hanshaw expressed a willingness to see Mr. Boyden, Mr. McGory was assigned Mr. Stillwell Brown, Mr. Paterson promised to interview Mr. Haef er. They will report their findings at the next meeting. Mr. Gridley asked for an idea of what amount should be included in the Town of Dryden budget for expeditures by the Planning Board. Expenditures for legal help, printing, map making, stationery and postage were memtioned. Mr. Gridley made a Note of these. The meeting adjurned at 9:40 p.m. it tharine C. Payne I I
