The fifth meeting was begun at $:10 p.m. August 27, with six members
and Rev. Robert E. Gibby present. Rev. Gibby started the meeting with a
discussion of changes in the roads and suggested changes in the names of
various confusing and ugly -named roads. He pointed out the roads under discussion
on
on the Town of Dryden map and told the wishes of the residents thereon in regard
to naming the roads. He showed the roads which have been changed in direction
a
or discontinued, according to h 6 researches in numbering the houses in the Town.
Mr. McGory suggested, and the members of the Board generally agreed
that old established names should be retained but confusing, repetitive names
should be changed. Mr. Hanshaw suggested numbering the roads.
Mrs. Payne made a motion that Mr. Gibby take one of the Planning
Board's maps and make all of his corre @tions so that we could see them and
prepare the official map which we hope to present to the Town Board. This was
generally approved. It was decided that we would try to complete this map
by the October meeting of the Town Board so that they coUM take action. on it.
The next meeting of the Planning Board was designated September 11.
Mr. Sadd's motion at the fourth meeting concerning putting the new
map before the Town Board at the September meeting was revised to the October
meeting. Mr. Sadd asked Mr. Guest if he could see Mr. Gridley ahead of time
to see if the Town had made any preliminary plans for having Z new map
drawn up.
In answer to a question from Mr. Guest, Mr. Gibbey stated that he
used the formula of five house numbers to one tenth of a mile in a.ssigp3ng
house numbers.
Mr. Guest asked if anyone was interested in attending a meeting and

workshop on planning being held at Bear Mountain. Mr. Sad.d moved that we
appoint Mr. Guest to be the one to go if the Town Board wishes to send one of
us. Mr. Quest was uncertain as to whether he would be able to go but decided
to look into the possibilities.
Mr. Guest suggested that we write to Mr. Haynes at the Bureau of
Planning to see if he has any copies of z8ing regulations of other towns or
villages in this general area which we co>>ld study. B/,

Mr. Guest moved and Mr. Sadd seconded that some contact Cone
Evart Cook to find out if :fie would be interested in examining our final
ordinance proposal and the approximate cost figure,
Mr. Sadd offered to call Mr. Burton of Cornell if he doesn't answer
• our letter of August 20 in regard to future plans for Cornell -owned property
in the Town of Dryden.
The meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
