Minutes, February 1, 2012
Present: Stephanie Mulinos, Jol,llen Bailey, Chrissy Guest, Jeff Walkuski, Melissa Bianconi,
Kris Bennett; prospective member Tracy Kurtz

order at 6:30.
Introductions were made. Tracy served on DYC
for many years in the past and is applying for
the Town vacancy.

Nov. minutes Passed, unanimous
Officer elections JoEllen asked if there were additional nominations for chair (Stephanie was
nominated in Nov.) Since there were none, she asked for a vote. Approved, unanimous.
Stephanie asked if there were additional nominations for vice -chair (Chrissy was nominated in
Nov.) Since there were none, she asked for a vote. Approved, unanimous.
Membership & Roster Members reviewed & confirmed contact info. Discussion of vacancies.,
when Tracy is appointed it still leaves 1 vacancy. Additionally, Stephanie is going to resign her
V. Dryden seat and be appointed by V. Freeville since she has moved. Tracy suggested asking
former member Steve Kirsch if he is interested; she will follow up. If he's not, Chrissy offered
to ask her neighbors. Patty from Town Hall has asked for a brief description of DYC for website
to accompany members' names; Stephanie will draft something & send it to Kris.

2011 Annual Report Members discussed content and look of 2010 annual report; decided to
keep format the same.
`I "own updates Melissa announced some new programs: tennis (Etna); pottery /ceramics; summer
— intro to car care; birdwatching as part of Dryden Lake Festival; canoe /kayak lessons.
Upcoming: annual wrestling tournament, father/daughter dance, basketball programs; spring
planning underway. Community Grants Program have been announced; not- for - profits serving
Dryden community are eligible to apply (including CCE for 4H Acres). Kris will tell Linda.
Melissa's baby is due May 4; Andrew will fill in while she's out. Melissa is now responsible for
processing all financial stuff related to DYC.
Commission Vitality & Accountability Assessment Summary Members reviewed the collated
report; discussion followed on weakest areas including how to obtain meaningful parent
feedback. Chrissy also suggested asking Dryden teachers about need for additional
programming and slots for participants; are they aware they can refer students in need?
Additional discussion on benefits of serving more youth vs. fewer youth on an ongoing basis.
Questions to ask CCE next month: what outreach is done to home schoolers? Now much
communication is there between Dave and his programs and who should /can be referred? Has
Dave spoken at Dryden faculty meeting about his programs? Melissa mentioned that she
reached out to Linda after seeing how many of Dave's programs are already frill to offer help
from the town. Perhaps Andrew could help provide transportation and supervision to allow for
increased enrollment? One more thing to follow up on in March.
DYCIDRC Restructuring Jeff; JoEllen, Stephanie, & Kris attended the Jan. 25 meeting of the
Rec. Commission. Each group gave the other general background info about their focus. DRC
will be invited as a whole to the March 7 DYC meeting; Kris will ask CCE reps. to be there too
to give program overview as well as youth development overview and intentionality of planning
for what skills each program will address. Kris will prepare an updated DYC orientation packet
for DRC. "fhe 2 groups will try to send reps. to each other's meetings this year and plan some
separate times to discuss restructuring, process, bylaws/ operating guideless, structure, roles.
Need to have a plan to propose to the Town Board by Oct. Stephanie proposed creating a small
subgroup with chairs and /or 2 members of each commission plus Melissa and Kris to work on
this. First meeting would be sometime after March 7 DYC meeting.
