Updates: Recreation — Melissa reported that winter programming is goingthas gone well: wrestling tournament, winter wellness program, father - daughter dance. Kids' Lumbatomic to start soon. She attended a meeting of the high school wellness committee; good chance to connect with dedicated teachers & staff re, healthy nutrition and afterschool activities. Getting ready now for spring (van purchase and roll out of Healthy Places Grant received by Human Services Coalition targeting Dryden, Ithaca southside, and Ithaca northside to improve accessibility to healthy food and outdoor spaces (facilities, walkability, community gardens, farmers markets, etc.) The grant is 6250,000 /year for 5 years. Youth Development Task Force — Working to increase community presence & involvement with their 40 developmental assets focus. leant to maintain energy of current group & expand. Membership — no update, OURS hiring — Ruben Rahman has been hired as interim program manager to work with the OURS program; he started yesterday. CCE can hire on an interim basis for up to 6 months without going through a search so this will take the program through the summer. if Ruben is interested in the permanent position he will have to apply. Julie was saying goodbye to the youth and families today. Kris shared a copy of his resume with those present. CCE reports — Kris forgot to ask for these; she'll make sure DYC has them for the next meeting. 2011 Calendar: Those present agreed to a meeting schedule for the year (following page). We may collapse a couple of meetings later in the year, based on schedules and work. Members thought that asking CCE to come only twice a year is sufficient, will try to get V. Dryden & V. 1;reeville youth jobs to come in the summer, did not feel that Brooktondale camp needed to attend, given their very small allocation. DYC would still like short, monthly written reports from Dave and Ruben; a biannual budget update from Linda will be sufficient, unless questions arise. Members agreed that more frequent monitoring would be a good idea; Melissa volunteered to stop in at Dave's in- school programming & will report back. Other dates: Tentative joint meeting with Dryden Rec. Commission scheduled for April 27 at Dryden Community Caf6. Recreation Partnership annual meeting: March 31. Joint meeting of countywide youth comnussionslcommunity councils to be held March 19 at County Youth Services, 10:00 — noon. Kris asked Melissa for an update around possible blending of the Dryden youth & rec. commissions. Melissa feels each group should discuss this separately; if both agree there is value, they should each propose this to the Town. We may discuss this possibility on April 27. Liaisons: CCE RYS — JoEllen CCE OURS —Justin Brooktondale camp — Stephanie V. Dryden Youth Jobs — Cynthia V. Freevi Ile Youth Jobs — Jeff ® In addition to DYC members doing monitoring visits & reports, Kris will try to do all programs. Next meeting: April 5, 2011, 6:30 PM at Town Hall,
