Discussion re. DYC & funding youth employment — should we establish parameters? Needs, first time experience (younger kids), municipal jobs where we touch a couple 18 -19 year olds, or jobs which might affect more kids. Some jobs, like camp counselors, mean youth (campers) are served. Village of Dryden — Needs worker to be 18 or older for maintenance worker. CCE youth employment plans for this summer: helpers for Dave & Julie. Library would like to hire a couple kids. Have also a request from Floating Classroom to hire a particular youth (but concerned that CCE insurance might not allow this due to liability) Kris said she can send Floating Classroom a notice for next year's application cycle to fund a student employee; then it would be on their insurance. DYC members agreed to not institute rules about this; each funding request will be viewed on its own merits, based also on available funding. Kris reminded all that there are no longer funds dedicated to youth employment; any funding used for this is out of the youth development funding. 2009 DYC Annual Report Kris distributed copies, is also displayed on DYC website.
