HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-03-18Dryden Youth Commission March l8, 2008 Minutes Present: JoEllen Bailey, Cynthia Waterman, Tom Fuchs, Stephanie McConnell, Kris Bennett, Linda Schoffel, Mary Ann Sumner Minutes from Feb. were approved Annual report from CCE's Dryden Youth Services and updates re. OURS Linda distributed Dave's program report. Dave recently reached his 10 year anniversary with CCE. OURS - 2 small grant applications have been submitted, a third is in progress. Biggest challenge continues to be behavior and discipline. Julie, Tom and Kathy Jett will be attending the RAP workshop series (nationally recognized strength -based training curriculum). Budget — Linda distributed a budget update using a difTerent format than has been done in the past. It would simplify internal accounting and make it easier to generate monthly budget updates for commissions. The main difference is that the new format would not break out the summer program costs. But the monthly breakouts for July & August would come close to showing summer costs. Linda asked if this would be OK.. Artnual reports — Linda distributed Dave's and Tom's detailed annual reports. She said that across both programs, the unduplicated youth served was 157. Across RYS, approximately '/z the youth come to only one program and '/2 repeat. Tom F. — has CCE ever done a cost analysis per program participant hour? Linda — no, more important is the impact on youth participants. Tom agreed but thought an analysis would show what a bargain the prog'ranuning is. He may tackle this himself. Next we looked at the template for the youth employment guide. Stephanie asked that the NYS Dept. of Labor website be added as a resource, has good info re. youth employment. Kris will proofread and return to Tom. DYC members also looked over the business list and made a few edits. Linda also distributed Duck Race fundraiser forms. Drvden Youth Commission Annual Report DYC members reviewed a draft Kris had assembled. A few edits were made. Kris will email revised document to all for review. Dryden Community Cafe JoEllen will enhance the DYC bulletin board display. Membership Cynthia has been in contact with a V. Freeville resident she thinks would be a great addition to the DYC. She'll continue to work on this. Other Mary Ann said town hall has display space, if any DYC programs would like to be featured here, please contact her. Mary Arin also invited DYC members to attend the March 27, 6:30 PM, meeting of the Dryden Recreation Master Plan Steering Committee. JoEllen will plan to attend. Plan for April 29 meeting OURS program is scheduled to attend. We should ask liaison InShik to follow up on this. Minutes by Kris Bennett
