Minutes
Attending: Kristen Blackman, Jean Simmons, Colleen Emerick - Daniluk,
Brooke Blizzard, David Hall, Amanda Verba, Nita Baldwin, Karen Coleman
Absent: Penny Green, Mary Bachner, Walt Matyjas
Meeting called to order at 7:20.
Program Managers Report — Dave reported that the summer program was full
every week and that the kids enjoyed the programs. Stephanie Jones was the
teen assistant this summer and as the. summer progressed so did she. Would
hire one or more assistants next year. Primetime youth conference will be taking
place this Saturday; anticipate between 40 -60 youth to attend. See report.
Brooke is busy getting to know the kids; in the cafeteria, but being in the sixth
grade lunch period is awkward as kids are not permitted to talk. Has started a girl
talk group, Creativity Club, and will be introducing activities as the fall
progresses.
Both Dave and Brooke have experienced some challenges being recognized in
the school. Commission members are still concerned about the publicity and how
it gets out and to whom. This will be an ongoing discussion. Dave and Brooke will
® begin to develop a direct mailing list to youth. Amanda will follow up on this.
Discussion about ways to have teaching staff more aware of the programs.
Evaluation — Karen shared some copies of evaluations for programs used by
other Commissions. These will provide a place to begin discussion. At the
November meeting the members will discuss what they want to know and ways
to gather this information.
