HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-09-170 Dryden Youth Commission September 18, 2001 Minutes Attending: Mary Bachner, Kristen Blackman, Colleen Emerick- Daniluk, Walter Matylas, Kris Bennett, Karen Coleman Excused: Nita Baldwin, Penny Green, Jean Simmons. Meeting called to order at 7;10 PM Members decIded to read each proposal, discuss and allocate funds. A entire budget evaluation would be done when this process is completed. Karen has 191" agreed to forward recommendations to Supervisor Varvayan is on September Programs receiving consideration: Freeville Youth Jobs. Request $6038 Allocated 6038 This prograrn was monitored by Kristen, there were between 40 and 00 youth participating each day, Activities were well planned and kids were enjoyiIng themselves. Dianna Radford was the Camp director this year_ She was creative (job sharing) in hiring youth so that more were given the opportunity to work_ Kristen moved to approve request, seconded by Mary, passed, Community and Youth Services Unit, Dryden Police Department. Request $7050 Allocated $7050 The 2000 report had more program detail than previous years and highlighted the Departments youth development programs. We will ask for this detail in the 2001 report as well, Motion to allocate $7050 made by Colleen, seconded by Mary, passed. Youth Conservation Corp- IYB. Request $15909 Allocate $13345 Motion made to appropriate $13, 345 for this program and to have expenses for the project picked up by the municipality agency where protect occurs. Discussion, it was difficult to get this program and projects set up this spring,details for responsibility of recruiting, pay checks and payroll will need to be clarified. Karen will meet with Allen and Amanda in early spring to do this. Motion seconded and passed_ Cornell Cooperative Extension � Request $46488 Allocated $46488 Colleen made the motion to allocate $46,488. Discussion: This program has gotten stronger with more youth being reached. There is a new part time employee (Brooke Blizzard) who will be working in the school as well as developing some after school programs. We anticipate another strong program year, This may be a good year to conduct a needs assessment, will explore this with Amanda and Program Managers, Motion seconded by Mary, passed, Municipal Jokes. Allocated $9021 This amount exceeds youth employment allocated in 2001 r This amount was spent during the year on youth employees who worked in the Village of Dryden Camp, Village Town Hall, will explore wags this program can hire youth to help with a survey, work at local sites, more subsidized employment.
