Program Managers Report. C',�� JoAnn Myer- Foland - reported at- llem-with a fee charge for the summer camps. Concern with low : attempts made by Program Managers to get info. out. Early distribution of info. about summer camps is vital for next year. -YCC Zeyouth working on Freeville playground; progress underway. - Special Events: magic show and Grass Roots Festival 2. Aram's Rep= J C10 _� -July Events - Organic Farmer; Composting: Ornithologist. - Dryden Summer Program - Clark's Food Market - info both -.Aug 8 - Family Music Night Mount. Park - Brook.tondale - last family music night; quality area musicians -3 on 3 Sat. Basketball in the Park scheduled as part of summer activities. 3. Approval of minutes: approved as read. Suggested by J. Tavlor that we document the person writing the minutes, all agreed. 4. It was determined that the Etna Cemetery Project had lead based paint on the fences, his eliminatedA as a CCC- youth- to -ppate. 5. 199? Program Proposed Solicitatio.lS , Update dates on Current Forms in use. We will sent applications to people who've requested funds in the past and have extra forms available at the Town Offices. A notification will be placed in the Ithaca Journal. We have enough funds to use 1 1/2 program managers. Will have to devise plan to evaluate during the next year. Janice will send out proposals to person and projects DYC funded last }rear. Decision made to call for deadline of Aug. 29th to Town of Dryden Hall. 6. Youth Center - there was a discussion about the feasibility of having a `teen Center in Dryden? Janice offered to pull together info, about youth center. Her perspective was that tills could be a huge undertaking and needs to be carefully examined. There isare many models for such a center. Newfield tried for 3-s' * o a teen drop in center. Problems with older youth coming in and bringing beer and drugs. More discussion about this potential program will follow. •71as /gL A � 7. Vicki Alexander brought up the fact that there are a lot of things for parents and kids to do but it is a problem really knowing what is available. She suggested the possibility of a booklet of information available for parents to see what is available for summer programming. The Youth Bureau publishes various listings of programs and camps that are available through them. Trumansburg hired two youth to complete a booklet of all youth activities in Trumansburg- Ulysses area, that project went very well for that conunnunity. Youth can also get youth involved in radio publicity to discuss youth happenings. Program possibility for Cooperative Extension for next year: Communications Component Package Teen who would be funded to put together a media project: Compile info on programming; compile a booklet; learn about interviewing; being interviewed; videotaping. We will then proceed to fill receive list of Ithaca H. students who reside in Dryden lion members Monitoring programs needs to be put on to the August or September meeting. Task List: Steve - look into YCC members. Call Rae I-I. Janice will talk to Barbara Hopkins about increased publicity for music events, send programs applications and get info on.xeetu-center programs Meeting Adjourned: 4:40 P.M.
