Tail s Report
1. Reviewed 1992 Recomlended Spending Plan starte& out with approximately
$29,000 funds available providing`'e mratbli could be`provided. New York State
Division for Youth funds - $24,000 from County. Funds allocated to Village/
Town projects - don't know if County has approved projects. Problem in Freeville.
Julie to stay in touch with Nancy Z. about the status of money as it is critical
to fall programming. If money, is not spent it goes back into fund and the
commission is then responsible for. it. Approved use of $10,000 for programs
for officer Friendly, summer rec for Freeville.
Town Board Report
1. Town Board request for $28,881 - convened special Town Board meeting. Approved
that night. Town Board agreed to approve match for transportation for LPP.
2. Tom expressed excitement to begin partnership with Family and Children's
Service and noted that Family and Children's Service is in a different role to
start brand new programming with a Youth Commission.
3. Not a lot of money left for the fall. May reallocate some of the $7,000 for
fall.
4. Thank you to Don Wilson for his efforts in assisting the Youth Camission.

Stirmler Program Report
1. Youth Conservation Corps - Julie sent out press releases to radio, newspapers,
etc. regarding Youth Conservation Corps program. Interviewed 4 youth so far.
Have decided to hire 1. 5 interviews scheduled for next week. Rich Winter is
getting money fro, the PTA and faculty association for supplies. He'll set up
an account at Agway. Cueiything is on schedule. Want to have kids interviewed
and hired by June 15th. Spoke to Karen Libman regarding self reliance program.
She will come to the June meeting to explain program.
2. Youth Pride Program - 2 ads to hire youth for odd jobs in the Shopper. Has
received calls and has hired a few youth already. Julie sent a memo to churches
asking if people in congregations have need for youth to do odd jobs. Julie
has had a few responses.
3. Sumner Staff - Julie has in mind a college student who volunteered for Camp
® Fire to work for the sumner. Also has in mini Christine Mills, a high school
senior, to hire to assist Julie in service projects, programming and finding
kids to hire.
4. Computer Carrip - Mike, a teacher at Dryden, would teach a computer camp fmtl
9:00 -12 :00 for 1 week in July. He'll charge $250.00. The program would serve
6th, 7th and 8th graders.
5. St.ummer Theatre Program - The program fell through.

6. Art Program - 12 -14 year old kids for 2 weeks. Hire someone to teach art.
Julie has someone in mind. Will. check with Mrs. McCormick in the elementary
school if other person doesn't work out.
7. Job Training Program - The Ithaca Youth Bureau is willing to come out and do
a 2 week job training program.
- Suggestion to make markers for trees by using shop or art program to make signs.
-Don Tronbley agreed to give the Youth Commission two pages in the Dryden
School District Bulletin. Has to be done by May 30th. Julie will put in
programs she knows will happen thus far.
General Business:
1. Learning 4deb needs to be contacted to begin advertising for the summer program.
Torn To wants to see'a finished tape advertising programs.
2. Bus transportation to Ellis Hollow needs to be made known to students in
Ellis Hollow /Caroline end of town. Julie needs to coordinate with Penny.
3. The summer hours for the rec program for the school gym and pool will go
out with the bulletin.
4. Certified Sitters will probably be done in the fall.
5. Family and Children's Service needs to get in touch with Nancy Z. regarding
contracts.
6. Anne Bianchi not here to report on additional bus route.
7. Reporting to commission from Family and Children's Service - Bi -weekly newsletter
to include kids served by program, kids report, verbage - older supervisory
youths report and dollars allocated, dollars spent to date and balance.
No more than two pages. An addendum - a contact last. Newsletter will go to
town /village board members, clerks.
8. Program Sub - committee will now be' the people who can make the summer meetings.
Diana will let Vicki and Anne know the dates. Jack will let Dan know. The
meetings will be June 18th at 6:45 p.m. at the Dryden High School, and the July
meeting will be July 30th - will be a picnic at the new pavilion done by the
Conservation Corps (will confirm after next meeting) . Tom and Anne will be
available by phone if Family and.Children's Service has additional questions/
needs.
9. Program evaluation - Julie will tell us how the program is doing.
10. Family and Children's Service will decide how to allocate funds for hiring
people, what to pay and write it up and then show to Tam.
11. Julie is focusing on programming during the time summer school is in session.
12. If we need to ask questions, write it up and send to committee members. Negative
confirmation approach.
13. The Youth Commission requested that Family and Children's Service document how
the program is getting set up so the next youth worker will know what to do.
A blue print is really important.
