TOWN OF DANBY
SPECIAL MEETING
August 26, 1985
A special meeting was held August 26, 1985 at the Danby Town Hall, 1830 Danby
Road,Town of Danby, County of Tompkins, New York. The purpose of the hearing
was to discuss Emery Road use, proposed Junk Law, and dog kennel facilities.
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM.
Board members present: Councilperson Mary Oltz
Councilperson Dorothy Roberts
Councilman Edward Shay
Councilman Ric Dietrich
Supervisor Mildred Miller
Others present: Walt & Carol Sczepanski, Carol Benjamin, Jerry Catlin, Joel
Gagnon, Helen Mundel, Alton Jackson, Don Graham, Gerald Baker, Ray Babbitt,
Supervisor Miller reported a resolution is needed for Newfield and Candor
Central Schools to prepare and levy school tax rolls for 1935.
RESOLUTION #32 NEWFIELD CENTRAL SCHOOL MAY PREPARE AND LEVY
A SCHOOL TAX ROLL FOR TOWN OF DANBY IN THE
AMOUNT OF $70,616.87 for 1985.
Moved by Councilperson Oltz, seconded

RESOLUTION #33 CANDOR CENTRAL SCHOOL MAY PREPARE AND LEVY A
SCHOOL TAX ROLL FOR TOWN OF DANBY IN THE
AMOUNT OF $1,222.23 for 1985 -86 TAX YEAR.
Moved by Councilperson Roberts, seconded by Councilperson Oltz.

The board members discussed the issue of Alton Jackson's request to have
Emery Road in West Danby maintained year round. After reviewing the amount
of taxes that are paid by property owners on that road the board asked Ray
Babbitt to compile a cost to open the road up for year round maintenance.
After brief discussion the board members agreed the Junk Law as prepared by
the planning board be put on the November ballot.
RESOLUTION #34 AUTHORIZE TOWN CLERK TO PUBLISH THE JUNK LAW
IN ITS ENTIRETY IN THE ITHACA JOURNAL AND TO
PREPARE THE LAW FOR PUBLIC REFERENDUM ON THE
NOVEMBER BALLOT.
Moved by Councilperson Oltz, seconded by Councilperson Roberts.

The board discussed briefly the dog kennel facilities, and agreed to table
any decisions until dog warden can prepare a cost to build such facilities
and board has thought about where such facilites should be built. As the
dog warden contracts with town of Lansing, Lansing will need to assist Danby
in preparing the state required facilities.

Councilman Dietrich moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 PM, seconded by
Councilperson Roberts. Adopted: Oltz - aye
