TOWN OF DANBY TOWN BOARD MEETING MINUTES June 10, 1985 The regular meeting of the Danby Town Board was called to order at 8:00 PM by the town clerk due to the absence of Supervisor Mildred Miller at the Danby Town Hall, 1830 Danby Road, Town of Danby, County of Tompkins, New York, June 10, 19850 Board Members present: Absent: Councilperson Dorothy Roberts Councilman Ric Dietrich Councilman Edward Shay Councilperson Mary Oltz Supervisor Mildred Miller Others present: Frank Proto, Don Graham, Pamela Clermont, Judd Leonard, Edward M. Roberts, Roy and Mary Casterline, Bill Frederick, Moe Peters, Joel Gagnon. Councilman Dietrich moved to appoint Councilperson Oltz to conduct meeting in the absence of the Supervisor, seconded by Councilperson Adopted: Dietrich - aye Roberts - aye Shay - aye Communications: 1. Resolution received from County Board of Mortgage tax. Total for Danby $4,953.52. the Roberts. Representatives, Apportionment of 2. Letter from American Television & Communications Corp. sending payment totalling $152.75 for franchise fees for the perioc{ January 1984 to to December 1984, 3. Letter from State Comptroller. Have not received the 1983 financial report from the Danby First District. As a result this could have an adverse effect on amount of State Aid allotted to the Town. Councilperson Roberts moved to approved seconded by Councilman Shay. Adopted: Privilege of the Floor: asl� presented, Special Meeting Minutes Dietrich - aye Roberts - aye Shay - aye Oltz - aye Councilperson Oltz presented plans for Rte 96 proposed alternate plans drawn up by Tompkins County Transportation Committee as new route to the Hospital. Frank Proto gave a report at the County Representatives level. He reported the office for the aging will be putting on a program for Alzeheimer's Disease in October. Frank reported it is rumored the Bookmobile may be discontinued next year. Don Graham reported Jim Hovance has resigned from the town planning board, which leaves two open positions. He said Luke Carpenter and Jerry Catlin have both showed interest in serving on the board. The planning board are still working on revisions of the town zoning ordinance. They hope to present a rough draft to the town board in the fall. 7 ON * * ** Privilege of floor, continued. Bill FredericK voiced concern over the town highway department dumping stumps on private property (John Benjamin) and using town equipment on the private property. The board agreed to check into the matter. LCR.' Peter voiced concern over the taxes. He feels the town should controls -the final decisions and department. Committee Reports town having a grievance day for property do away with this as the assessment department the town has no control four day over the assessment Youth: Councilman Dietrich reported the town summer recreation program w1i.1l begin July 8 thru August 2. There will be swimming at Buttermilk Park two days a week. Senior Citizens: Councilperson Roberts reported the Senior Citizens are presently on a four day trip to New York City. Zoning: Judd Leonard reported he has received a number of zoning variance requests. He mentioned the Margaret Adams property in West Danby will need to be cleaned up by July 15. Mr. Hughes has completed an inspection of the Empire State Speech Clinic and Finger Lakes School and has discovered a few violations. Cemeteries: Ed Roberts reported some head stones were broken at the Cemetery located next to the highway barns. It was reported to the Sheriff's department. New Business: Councilperson Oltz reported the following Election Inspectors need to be approved the 1985 -86. District 1 - Republican Donna Smith Myrtie Hewitt Charlotte Hautala Harriett Golden, alternate District II - Republican Mary Casterline Irene Mohlar Winnie Cortright, Alternate Councilman Shay moved to approve inspectors for 1985 -86, seconded Adopted: Dietrich - aye Roberts - aye Shay - aye Oltz - aye District I - Democrat Beverly Dawson Linda Howe Patricia Addy District II - Democrat Irene Cortright Jean Nowack the appointment of the above election by Councilman Dietrich. After brief discussion, Councilperson Oltz reported there will be a highway housing committee meeting on June 14 at 7:00 PM. WARRANTS; Councilperson Roberts moved to approve payment of the General Fund Abstract #6 W�ift with the exception of Voucher #87 to Milred Miller for mileage and postage in the amount of $48.40, leaving a total for the warrant of $963.43, seconded by Councilman Shay. Federal Revenue Sharing Abstract #b in the amount of $435.00 was approved to be paid. Moved by Councilman Dietrich, seconded by Councilperson Roberts.
