TOWN BOARD MEETING MINUTES
February 11, 1985
The regular meeting of the Danby Town Board was called to order
at 8:07 PM at the Danby Town Hall, 1830 Danby Road, Town of
Danby, County of Tompkins, New York, February 11, 19850

_Supervisor Miller moved to approve the January 30 public hearing
as presented, seconded by Councilperson Oltz, carried by a vote
of five ayes and no noes.
Privilege of the Floor:
Councilman Shay said the Board members should review the names
on the petition that are for or against the group home to be
located at 1820 Danby Road,
Frank Proto gave his report on what has been happening at
the County Board of Representatives. He mentioned the sale
• of the old hospital is still up in the air.
The Revenue Sharing funds will be down in 1986 and in 1987 the
funds will be dropped more. Frank has met with Herb Engman
on the Danby Pond repair of the dam. The two men will be
meeting with engineer Jesse Miller to see how long it is going
to take the complete repair of the dam.
Prudence Bentley expressed her opinion on why the group home
should not be located at 1820 Danby Road,
Michael Loehr explained the Children's Community have continued
with licensing procedures with the State; however, the process
will take at least a year.
Mr. Loehr would like the board's vote on granting a zoning
variance for the group home, as their vote determines the sale
of the property.
Susan Centini said the property at 1820 Danby Road should remain
as an historical home.

Discussion followed on distribution of the new Fire and
Building Code Law. The Board agreed it will be too costly
to mail to property owners; however, it will be made available
at the town clerk's office and will be given out with each
building permit application.
The Board reviewed the petition regarding the proposal made
for a group home at 1820 Danby Road. After reviewing the names
on the petition the following resolution was made.

Dietrich reported approximately 100 people
s recently held at the Town Hall. Community
eeting to discuss the summer recreation
itt reported the men are busy keeping roads
Zoning: Mr. Leonard reported a BZA variance will coming up
shortly regarding road frontage. Mr. Leonard also is in need
of a typewriter.
Planning Board: Mr. Graham expressed concern about the lack
of information the planning board has on the planned developments
• that have been passed in the past.
Supervisor Miller said Paul Smith needs to be reappointed as
Town of Danby Representative to the Tompkins Community Hospital
• Corporate Membership for a term of two years. Moved by Council-
person Oltz, seconded by Councilperson Roberts and carrti,ed by
a,.-;vote of five ayes and no noes.
Supervisor Miller said the boards needs to reappoint Sylvia Hiney
to the Economic Opportunity Committee for one year. The Board
would like to table this matter until the March meeting.
The town clerk would like to hire a parttime typist to assist
her in her work. Councilman Dietrich moved to appoint Doris
Abbott to hel,p the town clerk for one month, seconded by Coun�il-
person Roberts and carried by a vote of five ayes and no noes.
Supervisor Miller explained to Mr. Leonard that the budget does
not allow him to purchase a typewriter this year.
Warrants:
General Fund #2 in the amount of $3430.17 was approved to be
paid. Moved by Councilperson Oltz, seconded by Councilperson
Roberts, and carried by a vote of five ayes and no noes.
Highway Fund #2 in the amount of $5242.10 was approved to be
paid. Moved by Councilperson Roberts, seconded by Councilman
Shay and carried by a vote of five ayes and no noes.
West Danby Water District Fund #2 in the amount of $5.52.88 was
approved to be paid. Moved by Councilman Shay, seconded by
Councilperson Roberts and carried by a vote of five ayes and
no noes.
Councilman Dietrich moved to accept the Supervisor's reports
as presented, seconded by Councilperson Oltz and carried by
a vote of five ayes and no noes.
The board members discussed auditing the town books, and the
tentative date for them to review the books will be March 6,
4 PM.
Councilman Dietrich moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:20 PM,
seconded by Councilperson Oltz, carried by a vote of five ayes
■ and no noes.
