APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes approved as rendered. CORRESPONDENCE: None Two reports were distributed, a four-month energy consumption comparison and a three-month report on fuel and utilities by department. Doug Dylla commented on the Cornell Housing Forum now in progress. D. R. Lacey commented on No. 9's and recommended permanent second glazing over the skylights and insulation of water pipes. The air conditioning system should be checked for economy. Doug Dylla pointed out that consumption was significantly down in the first four months, 11% in gas and 17% in electric, for the major users. Actual dollar sav- ings was $4,200.00. If rates had remained constant, it would have been almost $17,000. Doug Dylla announced that Miser of the Month award went to Streets and Facilities building in recognition of a 26% decrease in electric use in the first four months of the year. Harold Jones presented the permanent Miser plaque. The wood back was donated by Ithaca Calendar Clock Company. Labor for the engraving was donated by Specialty Trophies of Dryden. Notion made by Jeanne Fudala to reimburse Harold Jones for expense of the metal plates ($25.10) . Seconded by D. R. Lacey and passed unani- mously. Plaque will go to the Mayor for placement in City Hall. Doug Dylla mentioned bringing back the funicular advocates in the fall. STAFF REPORT: J. C. Clynes reported on status of Streets and Facilities conversion. It is still in Budget and Administration Committee for information on deregulation of natural gas. Seneca ramp is under review by the City Engineer. G. Messmer pointed out that as a hedge, the electric system at Streets and Facilities was not being re- moved. Motion made by J. Fadala, seconded by H. Jones, to reaffirm EnCom support of the conversion at Streets and Facilities building and that it be accomplished before the next heating season. Passed with one abstention. Doug Dylla reported that he had written the City Engineer regarding continued em- phasis on energy conservation projects, in particular, Seneca ramp, reduction in street lightin, Streets and Facilites conversion, and control adjustments. He sensed there was a loss in momentum. Doug Dylla suggested that since we had a membership void, we might skip July and August meetings. L. Elkins mentioned C. Brachheimer, a high school teacher, as a possible member. As homework for the summer, Doug Dylla will focus on street lighting, Robert Snell on buildings, and on fuel consumption. Harold Jones recommended that ex members be notified they are welcome to attend as ex officio. J. C. Clynes was asked to do so. ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 8:17 p.m. 2
