HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-04-29i n LJ 0 • TOWN OF DANBY SPECIAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES April 29, 1983 A special meeting of the Danby Town Board was called to order at 6;05 PM at the Danby Town Hall, 1830 Danby Road, Town of Danby, County of Tompkins, and State of New York on April 29, 1983. The purpose of the meeting to make certain resolutions on date for public hearing on bids for pipe arch on Brown Road and discussion of purchasing truck- tractor for hauling large equipment, and to put, out to bid sale of highway machinery referred to as to- behind caterpillar grader. Highway Superintendent Hile said a pipe arch needs to be installed on Brown Road. Had county engineer to study on the creek and ad- vised this type of bridge would carry water thru better than pres- ent set up. Supervisor Miller reported this is number one Chips project. Supervisor Miller reported a resolution is needed to instruct town clerk to advertise for bids for pipe -arch. RESOLUTION #15 AUTHORIZE TOWN CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CULVERT PIPE -ARCH ON BROWN ROAD BRIDGE PROJECT. BIDS WILL BE OPENED AND READ AT A SPECIAL MEETING ON MAY 169 7:00 PM. Motion made by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and seconded by Councilperson Mary Oltz and carried by a roll call vote: Councilperson Sylvia Hiney - aye Councilperson Mary Oltz - aye Councilperson Dorothy Roberts - aye Supervisor Miller - aye Councilman Ted Merritt could not be at this meeting and informed Councilper'son Dorothy Roberts that he votes in favor of above resolution. Supervisor Miller reported Highway Superintendent Hile informed her that their present (1968) truck - tractor that hauls their low -boy is in very bad shape. Superintendent Hile had councilperson Hiney inspect such vehicle and she was in agreement on condition of truck - tractor. Mr. Hile can keep the truck - tractor -to use as cinder spreader. He has been looking at other truck- tractors with Richard Walker and has found two trucks at a auction in Pennsylvania. There is a 1977 Mack Truck - Tractor which Mr. Walker feels is one he will have a chance to bid on. Supervisor Miller reported a resolution is needed to instruct town clerk to advertise for bid of 77 Mack Truck - Tractor, if Richard Walker purchases this vehicle at Auction in Pennsylvania, with the understanding the 77 Mack Truck might be changed to 76 Mack Truck if such vehicle is purchased. RESOLUTION #16 AUTHORIZE TOWN CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BID OF 1977 MACK TRUCK - TRACTOR. BIDS TO BE OPENED MAY 169 1983 , 7:15 PM Motion made by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and seconded by Council - person Mary Oltz and carried by a roll call vote of four ayes and no noes. Supervissr Miller asked board members if they were in favor of spending up to $12,000 for truck - tractor and entire board was in agreement. Highway Superintendent Hile reported he has an old tow - behind grader (Caterpillar) that he would like to put up for bid. Minimum to sell for $500. Supervisor Miller reported resolution is needed to authorize town clerk to advertise for bid for tow - behind grader. RESOLUTION #17 AUTHORIZE TOWN CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR SALE OF CATERPILLAR TOW - BEHIND GRADER. BIDS TO BE OPENED AND READ MAY 16, 1983 7:3& piq
