HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-PSI-2018-11-05 PUBLIC SAFETY AND INFORMATION COMMISSION MINUTES PRESENT: Chair Jackson Commissioners (5) Comella, Segerson, McLaurin, Spadolini OTHERS PRESENT: Common Council Liaisons: Gearhart City Clerk Conley Holcomb Public Information Specialist Faraday EXCUSED: ABSENT: Hayton Contraccia Holmes Meeting was called to order at 6:06pm Public Safety/ Information: 2.1 Live Streaming of Meetings City Clerk Conley Holcomb gave an overview of the city’s current franchise agreement with PEGASYS. Our contract supports live streaming of 3 standing committee meetings plus an additional 15 hours each year. Whether or not more meetings could be livestreamed on Channel 15 would also have to do with whether another meeting was being broadcast at that time. The question was asked as to whether live streaming is the most effective way to get information from meetings to community members. The Commissioners, City Clerk Conley Holcomb and PIS Faraday discussed other options for getting information from the city’s meetings to the public- podcasts, streaming audio without video, public information broadcast. 2.2 Creation of a Website Working Group The Commissioners, Clerk Conley Holcomb, and PIS Faraday had a conversation about what would be desired to achieve from forming a working group for the re-working of the city’s website. PIS Faraday will provide a list of other municipalities that use the same website vendor as we do in order to provide a spectrum of their visual layouts and user features to Commissioners. 2.3 Benchmarking Communities Regarding Dogs on Pedestrian Malls Commissioners Comella and Segerson reviewed a list questions and several municipalities they will be contacting to gain information regarding the handling of dogs Date: November 5, 2018 Time: 6:00 PM Location: Common Council Chambers, 3rd Floor, City Hall Public Safety and Information Commission November 5, 2018 2 on the commons in other cities with comparable pedestrian malls. NEXT MEETING: The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 3, 2018 ADJOURNMENT: On a motion, the meeting was adjourned at 8:04 pm.
