HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-08-09is • TOWN OF DANBY TOWN BOARD MEETING MINUTES August 9, 1982 The regular meeting of the Danby Town Board was called to order at 8 :06 P.M. at the Danby Town Hall, 1830 Danby Road, Town of Danby, County of Tompkins, and State of New York on August 9, 1982. Board members present: Councilperson Mary Oltz Councilperson Dorothy Roberts Councilperson Sylvia Hiney Supervisor Mildred Miller Absent: Councilman Ted Merritt Others present: Florence Starr, Ed Slights, Frank Haskins, Roy and Mary Casterline, Pamela Clermont. Councilperson Mary Oltz requested the minutes of the Special Town Board meeting, July 26, be corrected to read - "Council- person Mary Oltz requested that in the future Public Hearings be set by the Town Board at a public meeting as required by Law and all other legal requirements be followed." Supervisor Mildred Miller mentioned the minutes of July 26, where stated New York State Assessment Association requesting our membership change the sentence - "the board felt we should join this membership - to read association. Supervisor Miller asked that General Fund Warrant ="7A total be corrected to read $196.71. Supervisor Miller mentioned Mrs. Clermont, attorney for town, asked that in the minutes for the July_12'Public Hearing the wording be changed as follows - "the town attorney will draw up new amendment to planned unit development.." The word con- tract changed to amendment. Supervisor Miller asked that the July 12 regular meeting minutes be corrected on page 2 re: Gary Leonhardt to read "who was asked to be County Board Chairman." Supervisor Miller asked that the July 29 Public Hearing, July 29, Resolution #r19 be corrected to read "to receive 50% real prop- erty tax exemption." W$th the mentioned corrections, Councilperson Dorothy Roberts moved that the minutes be approved and seconded by Councilperson Mary Oltz and carried by a vote of four ayes and no noes. There were no communications. Priviledge of the Floor: Florence Starr reported for County Board of Representatives. There will be a public hearing August 10 on property no longer needed by the Board of Representatives. Mrs. Starr also commen- ted on how nice the town hall looked. Committee Reports: Roy Casterline reported the logging operation is about comple- ted. Mrs. Clermont advised Roy if they have any problems with the clean -up to contact her. Senior Citizens: Councilperson Dorothy Roberts mentioned the Senior Citizens did take their trip to Erie Barge Canal Aug. 7. Highway: Councilperson Sylvia Hiney reported some ditching on Troy Road and in West Danby area had been done. Supervisor Miller reported a complaint had been received jD-T� rom Robert Davenport regarding dumping of dirt on property he owns on corner of Bald Hill Road and Comfort Road. Supervisor Miller asked if and- councilmen are attending the Lew Lehrman Benefit at the Ithaca Yacht Club, August 10. Supervisor Miller reported the Minicipal Officers dinner will be held September 22. Lansing Town Supervisor reported to Super- visor Miller that the Lansing School for Girls would like to put the dinner on and plan the program. Prime Ribs are planned for the menu at $7.50 @ dinner. Abstracts: General Fund Warrant #8 in the amount of $1300.84 and Federal Revenue Sharing amount of $633.19 was approved to be paid. Motion made by Councilperson Mary Oltz and seconded by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and carried by a vote of four ayes and no noes. General discussion followed as to what code to charge legal ads to. Supervisor Miller said they should be charged to the clerk's funds. Highway Fund Warrant #8 in the amount of $2031.14 was approved to be paid. A bill was presented from Cortland Asphalt in the amount of $2425.00 that was not paid, as the town board felt they need to know what this item was used for. Motion made by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and seconded by Councilperson Mary Oltz and carried by a vote of four ayes and no noes Supervisor Miller noted that on Fund Warrant #136 should read $136.00 for Fund and $42.40 Federal Revenue Sharing Account. #8 voucher goes to Supervisor Miller mentioned there will be a special meeting August 23 at 7:00 to discuss the 1983 budget. Councilperson Dorothy Roberts made the motion to accept the Supervisors Reports as presented. Seconded by Councilperson Mary Oltz and carried by a vote of four ayes and no noes.
