PUBLIC HEARING - SIDEWALKS: Mayor Johns opened a public hearing on the construction or
repair of sidewalks. Supt. Dingman certified that thirty-five property owners throughout
the City had been served with final notices on April 15, 1970 to have their respective;.':;>"
sidewalks repaired within 60 days or appear at a hearing on this date to show cause'why
they had not complied. He presented a list of eleven of these property owners who had
failed to comply with their final notices. No one appeared to be heard at the.heating and
it was moved by Comm. McGee; seconded by Comm. Putney andcarried that the hearing':On this
subject be closed.

the Board would hold a hearing on the assessments at this meeting. No one appeared to
be heard thereon and it was moved by Comm. Leary, seconded by Comm. McGee and carried
that the public hearing be closed.

RESOLVED, that the Board hereby;approves a 1970 street lighting program which shall

STREET LIGHTING PROGRAM: Comm. Leary reported that N.Y.S. Electric & Gas Corporation
had advised the Superintendent that it was unable to complete the relighting of the
Northeast area of the City in accordance with the five-year plan because funds for this
purpose had been exhausted. He read a letter to the Supt. on the subject as follows:
Oct 20, 1970
"Dear Mr. Dingman:
The necessary approvals for the fourth year street lighting plan are now being sought.
Upon completion of this process, we will order the necessary equipment and begin con-
struction sometime after the first of the year. We are unable to give a specific time
but this project should be completed by the spring of next year.
If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact me."

TRAFFIC LIGHTS: Comm. Downing reported that the traffic lights in the City had improved
immensely in the past few months and wished to thank the Supt. and staff for the better-

LIGHTING ON EAST HILL: Alderman Nichols protested the fact that the Gas & Electric Co.
had stopped their street -lighting plan due to a lack of funds. She felt that with the
seven incidents at Cornell that they should proceed with the plan. Mayor Johns said
this had been discussed with the Gas & Electric and that they were starting immediately
