It showed a net loss before capital investment of $5,942.79 and after of $9,566.87 for the period. It was received and 6L° ordered filed. Page 3 • BUS ADVERTISING: At the request of the 'Bias Committee, Mr. Morton Stern appeared before the ,Board and presented his proposal for -.advertising on the City'sbuses, which ,•-included advertising •inside .end outside on the'buses, •on rate schedules, and on route ,signs. 'He indicatedhis.. proposal would yield a• net. income to the city from these lsoi ices of $28,860,00 as compared:- with' the present operat'ng loss 'of .$23,000,00. By 'Comm. Downing felt something should be done to permit advertising on the City's buses to provide an additional source of revenue to. aid in financing: the cost of their operation. :By Comm. Leary reported that the County feels the City should take over the deficit of the bus operation to the hospital. He reminded the Board that this run was instigated by the County and he has a letter in his file showing this. Asst. to the Supt. Dougherty reported that by eliminating the nights and Saturday runs that the deficit would drop. Comm. Leary suggested that the Board of Public Works Bus Committee, the Finance Committee of the Common Council and the Committee from the County meet before December i1, 1970, as this is when the contract expires.
