HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971 BusBUS REPORT: Comm. Downing presented a bus report for October - December 1970 and noted an increase in passengers. It was received and ordered filed. T6-1.4-,13 BUS REPORT: The Supt. presented a bus report for the first quarter of 1971 compared with a similar period during the last two years. It showed a net loss before capital investment of $7,008.12 and afterinvestment of $9,650.53. It indicated however that an additional item of other income amounting to $6,700.00 had been received after March 31 and that the total number of passengers carried was 12,000 more than in the first quarter a year ago. Ota- By Comm. Golder: seconded by Comm. Leary RESOLVED, that the bus report be received and transmitted to the Finance Committee of t' -!.n Common Council. Carried BUS REPORT: Superintendent Dingman presented the bus report for the period of April through June 1971. Assistant to the Supt. Dougherty reported that 1+,000 more passengers for this period were carried and the system was losing less money. Comm. Leary asked if anything had been done about the carrying of advertisements on the bus and was informed that this was in the hands of the Finance Committee of the Common Council. By Comm. Golder: seconded by Comm. Leary RESOLVED, that the bus report be received and transmitted to the Finance Commitee of the Common Council. The Supt.presented a bus report for the quarter ending September 30, 1971 BUS REPORT: P for the two preceding years_. It showed.a net loss before compared with the same period capital investment of $8,576.00 and a net loss after capital investment of $16,503.00 fors, the year of 1971. seconded by Comm. Golder .and After general discussion it was moved by Comm. Downing, carried that the report be accepted and placed on file. • •. • )BITS COMPLEMENT: On recommendation of the Supt. it by Comm. Putney and carried that the complement of system be changed by replacing one maintenance man was moved by Comm. Downing, seconded employees for the City's bus transit with one maintainer. 3/10/7/ ti The Supt. reported that the Mayor had also received a request that members of Tompkins Comty Senior Citizens be given free transportation on the City's bus system upon pres- entation of an I.D. card. By Comm. Doming: seconded by Comm. Putney 3/7 G/ / 7/ RESOLVED, that it is the sense of this Board that the Council has charge of policy decisions of. this type; and that the request be referred therefore to the Finance Committee of the Council for its consideration. Carried. 4 BUS FAhES: By Comm. Downing: seconded by Comm. Putney RESOLVED, that the Common Council requested to consider system fare increase to thirty cents with corresponding the advisbility of a transit increases in other fares. Carried. 5 Ald. BUS SERVICE - HECTOR STREET: Se. ,lucry . presented a petition for bus service on Hector Street as far as Vinegar Hill, thence down Vinegar Hill and return by way of Cliff Street. It conatined 31 signatures of residents of the 400-700 blocks of Hector Street. By Comm. McGee: seconded by Comm. Downing t-`' 2 6. RESOLVED, that'the petition be referred to the Parking, Traffic & Transit Committee for study and report. Carried. PETITION BUS SERVICE: The Clerk read a petition from 51 residents of Cliff Street requesting bus service. cx By Comm. Golder: seconded by Comm. Putney RESOLVED, that the petition be referred to the Transit Committee. Carried. • 6 BUS - DEWITT PARK AND STEWART PARK: Comm. Downing reported that the Youth Bureau had requested bus service between DeWitt Park and Stewart Park in connection with the day camp Monday through Friday, July 5th through August 13th. This requires one trip in the morning and one trip in the afternoon. It was felt that the Supt. should work up the costs of these trips so they could have something to go on for trips of this nature. ) By Comm. Downing: seconded by Comm. Putney -7 -2-3 �'3 RESOLVED, that the request of the Ithaca Youth Bureau for the operation of a bus to their day camp during July and August be approved. Carried 7 I BUS SERVICE: Comm. Downing reported that other routes in the city should be had and that 1 cost estimates should be made of other routes contemplated.3 By Comm. Downing: seconded by Comm.
