Tvilembers present: Carol Benjamin, Donald Graham, Jim Hovanec, and Walter Seze.panski, Guest: Chuck Bruce Privilege of the Floor: Walt Sczepanski stated that the gas companies are back in Danby to survey and buy leases on land. He asked'if zoning will have any power over drilling or building of facilities. Donald Graham said that he didn't believe zoning would be involved. Carol Benjamin asked if Danby zoning regulations would be a problem for any small business, such as Digi -Comp to buy and use the Danby school. The chairman believes the decision of the school board is all that is necessary, as long as.such business is not detrimental to the community, Jim "ovanec questioned the Town Board decision to not buy the school for town offices. He stated that moving back into the Town Hall calls for approximately $30,000 in renovation and up -keep. Jim made a motion to recommend to the Town Board that a steering commitee be formed to ourvey the possible use of the school for town purposes. The motion was seconded by Carol Benjamin. The minutes of the January 20 meeting were read, and with one correction, Sylvia Hiney was present, not Ted Merritt, they were passed. Donald Graham reported on the February Town Board meeting. The residents on Gunderman Rd. are concerned about the possibility of a group home being started at 68 Gunderman Rd. There are no restrictions on such a home,*that we can find. The Town Board has decided not to use the S.P.C.A. for animal control due to increased cost. Connie Merritt has been appointed dog warden, with Ted Merritt as her deputy. The chairman also reported on the - County Planning Board meeting. Topics disci.lssed were: possibilty of -solid waste being pressed into pelletts and sold for heating fuel,Towns not adopting state building codes are having difficulties with fire codes. Census shows an increase of 308 for Town of Danby in the 10 year period 1970 to 1980. Population in 1970 was 2141, and in 1980 was 2449. There is a possibility of bus transportation from Newark Valley to Cornell. If 96b is used as the route, it may be possible for Danby residents to use the bus for trans- portation to and from Danby. The new chairperson for the County Plan- ning Board is Ron Anderson from Cayuga Heights, and the vice_ chairperson is Viola filler from Town of Lansing, 2 Chuck Bruce would like to expand on his planned developement to.include mechanical and body repairs and small engine sales and repairs. Suggestions were made to Chuck to look to the future for further expansion to his planned developement and include them in his plans now to save time and money. The suggestion was made to re -write his letter to include all changes and expansions. We see no problems with his current plans and. encol.1041ged him to re- write the plans and submit them to the Town Board for public hearing.
