HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-06-27 TOWN OF GROTON -MINUTES OF ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, 2012 AT 7:00 PM THE TOWN HALL, 101 CONGER BOULEVARD Those present: Steven Thane, Chair Paul Fouts, Vice Chair Lyle Raymond, Board Member Patricia Gaines, Board Member Carolann Darling, Board Member Also present: Glenn Morey, Town Supervisor, Gary Coats, Code/Fire Enforcement Officer Chair Thane gave the Board information about planning and zoning summer schools that are being presented by the Association of Towns. Mr. Coats said that he would make sure that all Board Members get copies. Chair Thane mentioned the new Code of Ethics and the importance of keeping up with their training. Chair Thane announced to the Board that he is resigning his position, effective June 30t". Supervisor Morey explained the new member recruitment process. RESOLUTION #3 OF 2012 - APPOINTMENT OF NEW CHAIR MOVED by Member Gaines, seconded by Member Raymond Ayes - Thane, Fouts, Raymond, Gaines, Darling RESOLVED, that the Zoning Board of Appeals hereby appoints Paul Fouts as their new Chair, effective July 1, 2012. RESOLUTION #4 OF 2012 - APPOINTMENT OF NEW VICE CHAIR MOVED by Member Raymond, seconded by Member Fouts Ayes - Thane, Fouts, Raymond, Gaines, Darling RESOLVED, that the Zoning Board of Appeals hereby appoints Patricia Gaines as their new Vice Chair, effective July 1, 2012. Member Raymond announced that he plans to resign his position at the end of his term, which will be December 31, 2012. He specifically requested that Supervisor Morey and the Town Board not reappoint him. Zoning Board of Appeals Minutes Page 2 June 26,2012 Chair Thane passed his files and records, as well as the key to the Town Hall, to Member Fouts, effectively turning over the reins. Mr. Coats described two possible cases that may come before the Board, one having to do with building a garage on Clark Street Extension and the other with building a bed and breakfast on a landlocked parcel on Walpole Road. Supervisor Morey expressed best wishes to Steve Thane and his wife, Nancy, and mentioned how important the Zoning Board of Appeals is to the Town, especially during the difficult times such as the Sirens issue.
