HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-08-10TOWN OF DANBY TOWN BOARD MEETING MINUTES August 10, 1981 The regular meeting of the Danby Town Board was called to order rat 8 :00 P.M. at the Danby Elementay School, Gunderman Road, Town of Danby, Tompkins County, NewyYork on August 10, 1981. Board members .present* Councilperson Sylvia Hi:ney Councilman Ted Merritt Councilperson- Dorothy Roberts Councilman Robert Snedde,n Supervisor Mildred. Miller _ Others present: Herbert Ingman;_ Florence Starr, Ed Slights, Frank • Haskins, Donald Wright, Roy and Mary Casterline, Pam Clermont, Evelyn Eddy, Supervisor Mildred Miller explained her reports to the board. She received no bank statements this month which has caused some confusion.. COMMUNICATIONS: 1, A notice of the attendance at the summer recreation program was read. 2. Local Law, #4 regulating hawkers,_ ped.dlersi,and solicitors and other transient bussinesses in the.county, initiated by the Tompkins County.Board of, Representatives. Councilperson,Dorothy;Roberts_ made the motion that the minutes of the-July 13, 1981 regular meeting of the town board be-approved as prese-nte.d. The mot -ion was seconded by Councilman Robert Snedden and carried by a vote of five ayes and no noes. PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR: Herbert Ingman talked in favor of the SPCA. Also, he supports the appointment. of Donald Graham to serve another term .a -s .a member of the Town of Danby Planning-Board. Roy Casterline stated that work has been done on the road running by his home and the road is nown much better condition. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Cemetaries - Councilperson Dorothy Roberts stated that there have been no complaints. All are mowed. Community Council - Councilperson Sylvia Hiney reported that the Council has agreed to pay transportation fees for West Danby children attending the summer recreation program in Newfield who are outside the normal bus route. _Sunday August -16, 1981, there will be-a chicken barbecue and dish to pass supper at the ball park in West Danby. This will start at 1 :00 P.M. SeniorsCitizens - They have been very active. They have purchased card tables and are planning to schedule game nights. Highway report - The highway men have been grading roads. Nelson Road is being ditched. After this is completed, Nelson and Gunderman Roads will be resurfaced. Town Board Meeting Minutes - August 10, 1981 Page 2 Committee Reports continued: Water District - Nothing to report. Zoning Report - Written report submitted. It was noted that 20 building permits have been issued so far this year. The clerk noted that the relationship between the SPCA and the Town has improved., She feelspthat'as the towns do their own enumerations this relationship will improve even more. The SPCA has agreed to pay the Town of Danby $800.00 for the enumer- ation which they..started•last year and neveir completed. General Fund Warrant #8 in the amount of $920.69 was approved to be paid. The motion was made by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and seconded by Councilman Ted Merritt and carried by a vote of five ayes and no-noes. Highway Fund Warrant #8 in the amount of $13,831.30 was approved to be paid. The motion was made byyCouncilman Ted Merritt and seconded by Councilperson Sylvia Hiney and carried by a vote of five ayes and no noes. West Danby Water District Warrant #8 in the amount of $116.20 was approved to be paid. The.motion was,made by Supervisor Mildred Miller and seconded-by. Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and carried by a vote of five ayes. and -no .noe,s . The Supervisor':s- reports were approved as- presented . The* motion was -made by Councilman Ted Merritt.-rand seconded by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and carried by a_vote of four -ayes and no noes. It was noted that revisions to the Danby Zoning Ordinance have been received from Town Attorney Pam Clermont. No action will be taken on these revisions until the board has looked them over. A special meeting of the board will be held August 31, 1981 at 7:00 P.M. at the school to go ove -r the budget. Councilperson Dorothy: - Roberts made the- motion to adhourn the meeting. The motion_was• seconded by:Councilman Ted Merritt-and carried by a vote of five ayes and no noes. The time was 8:40 P.M.
