ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONL MEETING
TOWN HALL, 7:00 PM

Items of Business:
1) Schedule of Monthly Meetings
Meetings set for the third Wednesday of the month
All meetings to convene at 7:00 PM at Town Hall
Motion to adopt schedule by Pat Gaines, seconded by Lyle Raymond
All members in attendance voted aye
2) Chair:
Motion to recommend to Town Board Steven Thane as Chair for 2008 by Lyle
Raymond. Motion seconded by Pat Gaines
All members in attendance voted aye
3) Vice-Chair:
Motion to elect Lyle Raymond as Vice-Chair for 2008 by Paul Fouts
Motion seconded by Pat Gaines
All members attendance voted aye
4) Inservice Training:
Four hours per year of Inservice training is required for each member of the
board. Several options to fulfill this requirement are available and it was
recommended that the four hours be done as early in the year as possible.
5) Findings:
It is important for each board member to understand the importance of the
Findings that are created by the ZBA at each hearing. While a one line
declaration of the decision (variance approved/denied) fulfills the legal obligation,
the findings historically produced by our ZBA allow the inclusion of the thought
process involved in our decisions. During the next year, each Board member will
be responsible for producing the Findings using our template for at least one
hearing.
6) Code of Ethics
The Town of Groton Code of Ethics was distributed to the board members. All
were encouraged to read and follow the Code.
