HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-03-08 TOWN OF DANBY SPECIAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES March 8 , 1979 A special meeting of the Danby Town Board was called to order at 7 : 30 P . M . at the Danby Town Hall , 1830 Danby Road , Town of Danby , Tompkins County and State of New York on March 8 , 1979 . The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles regulations regarding junk yards in the Town of Danby and have Gwen Cukierski speak on energy saving window coverings for the town hall . Board members present : Supervisor A . Francis Wright Councilman Ralph Wilbur Counciperson Dorothy Roberts Councilman Robert Snedden Justice Milton Todd Others present : Gordon Roberts , Van Billings and Edward Slights . Gwen Cukierski talked about energy saving window coverings for the town hall meeting room and showed slides and samples of materials . The board asked if window coverings would help with the problem of acoustics in the meeting room . A lengthy discussion followed . Councilman Ralph Wilbur made the motion that Gwen Cukierski be hired by the town as consultant to prepare specifications for window coverings that will help conserve energy and also help with the problem of acoustics in the town hall meeting room . As her fee is $ 15 . 00 per hour , it was asked that she spend no longer than 10 hours to do this . The motion was seconded by Councilperson Dorothy Roberts and carried by a vote of five ayes and no noes . Regarding the "Vehicle Dismantlers " in the Town of Danby , Councilman Ralph Wilbur has talked with Andy Ryan who is employed by the state and has an office in Syracuse . He handles the issuance of licenses for junk yabds that are in compliance . The new law concerning a Vehicle Dismantlers license and the process of obtaining one was discussed . Justice Milton Todd made the motion that the clerk send a letter to Mr . Ryan concerning the junk yards in the town that are operating within the laws of the town and and ask if he would be willing to attend an informational meeting of the town board . The motion was seconded by Councilman Robert Snedden and carried by a vote of five ayes and no noes . The meeting was adjourned at 9 : 20 P . M . • Respectfully submitted , Ca'gr Mary ry OLtz , clerk
