Series No.: 01 -All
Collector: First Baptist Church of Trumansburg
Title: Church Records - 1819-1978
Quantity: 6 folders, 6 volumes
Provenance: The series was collected as it was compiled by the First Baptist
Church of Trumansburg, New York and was stored at the church. The
records were turned over to the care of the Town of Ulysses for historical
reference and to have a safer storage place.
The First Baptist Church of Trumansburg, New York was apparently known
in the early 1800's as the Second Baptist Church of the Town of Ulysses.
Church records reveal that the congregations for the Second Baptist Church
of the Town of Ulysses and the First Baptist Church of Trumansburg, New
York were one and the same; the two names reflect a change in name only.
Scope and Content: Articles of faith, church membership rolls, church minutes,
and financial records.
Finding Aid: Index
Preferred Citation: `First Baptist Church, Minutes 1819-1978, Membership Roll
1851-1913, Collection 01 -All, Town of Ulysses, Trumansburg, NY"
Glossary: Articles of Faith consist of a written or typed statement of a church's
theological creed.
Geographical coverage: The Town of Ulysses and Village of Trumansburg, New York
Location of Associated Materials/Related Collections: Presumably, the First
Baptist Church of Trumansburg, New York has its records since 1978. A
split in the church that occurred in 1930 resulted in the creation of Calvary
Baptist Church, Trumansburg, New York. Presumably, Calvary Baptist
Church has maintained its own records since its creation in 1930; Dewitt
Historical Society
Personal Names: John McLallen
Corporate Names: First Baptist Church of Trumansburg, New York, Second
Baptist Church of Ulysses, New York.

and theology.
