HomeMy WebLinkAboutMN-PDB-1967-10-30 PLANNING BOARD PROCEEDINGS City of Ithaca, N. Y. Special Meeting October 30, 1967 3:30 P.M. PRESENT: Chairman Stallman, Mrs. Nordheimer, Messrs. Carpenter, Feldt, and Parkes. ALSO: Planning Director Kasprzak, Mr. Lee, Greater Ithaca Regional Board Planning Director. ABSENT: Messrs. Schmidt, Alo. MEETING called to order 3:35 P.m. NEW BUSINESS: The City Planning Board has been concerned over the lack of communica- tions from Planning and Public Relations Committee of the County Board of Supervisors over the proposed attempts to organize County Planning Board. There has been no contact with the existing City Planning or Regional Boards as to what role both of these organizations will play in the new County organization or how the present planning programs be continued and amplified. After a short discussion the Board unanimously agreed to send letters, both to the City's Common Council and the County Board of Supervisors. In this correspondence there should be included, for information only, a report dated June 1967, prepared by Tompkins County Resources Development Committee. The letter reads as follows: "It is the unanimous opinion of the City Planning Board that the Council should be notified that, while the Board favors the idea of county planning, there has been no communication between the County Planning and. Public Relations Committee and this Board or its staff as to exactly where city and regional planning operations will fit in the proposal. Neither has there been any information as to how the maintenance of city and regional programs, now underway, will be continued, and amplified. It is our sincere hope that before the county makes too many commitments, that communications concerning the report of June 30, 1967 of the Tompkins County Resources Development Committee be established with the Planning Committee of the Board of Supervisors so that our Board will be in a position to make a definite and concise recommendation to the Common Council. Care must be exercised to assure the city a continuing, strong role within any larger county framework." MEETING ADJOURNED at 5:00 p.m. tGregory Kasprzak 11.9.67 Plnning Director
