OLD BUSINESS:
1. Request from the City Clerk: New merybers for Capital Improvement Review
Committee - George A. Blean, City Clerk, requested, by telephone, that two
members be designated from the Planning Board to the above committee. This
request was prompted by the expiration of the term of office of the last
year's committee. Messrs. Schmidt and Parkes were appointed from the
Planning Board to the said committee.
2. Inlet Valley Rezoning - In recent months the Planning Board has been
considering a request for rezoning of 500 block of N. Meadow Street. This
request has broader implications; therefore the Planning Board decided to study
the area of its influence. This meeting was called for the purpose of dis-
cussing the latest proposal which will be submitted to the City Council for its
consideration.
The Planning Board concluded that area to be considered should include
lands extending approximately between Meadow Street on the East and Flood
Control Channel on the West and extending to northern and southern boundary
of the city. The Planning Director presented the following maps in support
of the study: The existing land use reap, a diagramatic sketch of the
developing trends in this area, existing zoning map and finally, proposed
zoning. He explained the changes between existing zoning and proposed, and
indicated that the attempt was made to keep these changes to a minimum.
Mr. James Parkes, who participated in preparation of the proposed rezoning,
clarified some points on the intra-city and inter-city trends that are
developing and specifically referred to controls, in some measure, on
location of gasoline stations, aesthetic controls on developments along the
waterfront areas and restrictions on possible expansion of commercial land uses
along Titus Avenue.
