Present: Nina Bassuk, Laurene Gilbert, Jeanne Grace, Beverly Hillman, Pamela Markham, George MacGonigal,
Monika Roth, Debra Statton, Keith Vanderhye, Kevin Vorstadt
Several corrections to September minutes: Plantanus exofolia Exclamation, Nina’s class selected crabs, not
purchased them, scarlet oak, coccinea, not persina.
Forester’s Report: all diseased and dead trees have been removed, stump grinding started today, tree order
went in.
One complaint about black walnut at 22 or 23 Linn Street. Jeanne checked on it.
Crab apple planting coming up on November 9 at 1 pm. Jeanne and Beverly to put in stakes beforehand.
On Oct 24 in Syracuse there’s a workshop on pruning.
Time for letters to editor of Journal, Times, etc prior to election. Suggestion that we look at referendum
wording, Jeanne and George will ask City Attorney for wording.
Planning Dept agenda, anything that concerns us? On a lot on the corner of Wykoff, there’s suggestion to save
save Norway maples in poor shape. Just one issue to comment on: 30 foot oak on Columbia has serious decay
issues.
George asks if there’s any way to counter argument to raze the Nines Building. Jeanne says planning has to
include trees on lot, can’t have 100% lot coverage by the building.
Reminder to Jeanne to talk to Krin about easement.
No transition plan to consolidated commissions yet. Restructuring won’t start until January, so we’ll continue to
meet until then.
