The meeting was held at the Ulysses Town Hall at 10 Elm Street, Trumansburg. Notice of Town Board meetings are posted on the town's website and clerk's board. PRESENT: STAFF/BOARD: Supervisor- Liz Thomas 1St Deputy Supervisor- Nancy Zahler Board members- Michael Boggs Town Clerk- Carissa Parlato Water District Operator- Chris Stevenson OTHERS: Matt McKenna & Bill Davis (engineers from MRB Group), Diane Hillmann, Ann DiPetta, David Kauppinen CALL TO ORDER: Ms. Thomas called the meeting to order at l Oam. MEETING BUSINESS: Ms. Thomas presented an update on TTHM (total trihalomethane) remediation for Water District 3 and distributed a sheet of the options. The Town of Ithaca had informally agreed to put an aerator in their "Trumansburg tank", the closest tank to Water District 3. The Department of Health was willing to allow Ulysses to wait to take further action on remediation until TTHM levels could be gauged with Ithaca's new system. Now, however, Ithaca is asking Ulysses to pay half the cost of an aeration system, and needs a decision soon. Ms. Thomas noted that the TTHM levels coming in to Ulysses are already very high, though do not currently exceed the limit. She will appear before the Town of Ithaca's Utilities Committee to argue that WD3 is a small district and have already been paying operation & maintenance costs in the cost of water that is purchased from the Town of Ithaca. Remediation options were discussed. Mr. Davis narrowed them down to the two that he believes will be most effective: reconstructing the current Ulysses tank system, or connecting to the Village of Trumansburg. The group continued the discussion. Mr. Davis discussed the timeline for the grant application being submitted and a potential income survey for Water District 3. If median household income can be shown to be below $45,000, the project will be eligible for a grant. Ms. Thomas encouraged the working group to be alert for upcoming meeting dates and to help inform other district residents. ADJOURN: Ms. Zahler made a motion to adjourn at 11:27am, seconded by Mr. Boggs. Respectfully submitted by Carissa Parlato on 4/22/16. 2
