SPECIAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
January 14 , 1976
Pursuant to public notice published in the Ithaca Journal in the
December 19 , 19TH issue a special meeting of the Danby Town Board
was held at 7 : 30 P . M . at the Danby Elementary School , Wednesday
January 14 , 1976 for the purpose of receiving bids for the
renovation of the Danby Town Hall .
Board members present : Supervisor A . Frnacis Wright
Councilman Ralph Wilbur
Councilman Paul Smith
Justice Floyd Dorn
Justice Milton Todd
Others present : Bob Boehlecke , Gordon Roberts , Edward Slights
and contractors .
As advertised the bids were opened by the Danby Town Clerk at
8 : 00 P . M . Following are the bids received :
Novaar & Mackesey $ 78 , 500 . 00
McPherson Builders , Inc . 96 , 741 . 00
I . J . Construction Co . 75 , 308 . 00
Iocovelli Brothers Contractors Co . , Inc . 78 , 595 . 00
As these figures represent base bids and there are ten alternates
to consider the board will study these figures and make their
decision known by February 1 , 1976 . A meeting will be held
Thursday , January 22 , 1976 at the Danby Fire Station at 8 : 00 P . M .
for the purpose of going over the bids and the alternates and
deciding which bid is the low bid .
It was noted that the supervisor received bid security in the form
o f a check in the amount of $ 3 , 925 . 00 from Novaar & Mackesey ; a
check in the amount of $ 2 , 365 . 00 and cash in the amount of $ 1 , 400 . 00
from I . J . Construction Co . ; a check in the amount of $ 3 , 929 . 75
from Iocovelli Brothers Construction Co . , Inc . ; and Bond Security
from McPherson Builders .
This closed the public hearing and the board then went into
e xecutive session to discuss CSEA . Labor rates and health
insurance plans were talked about . Councilman Ralph Wilbur .
rescinded Resolution # 10 passed on April 28 , 1975 which cancelled
the health insurance with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co .
covering the highway employees and called for participation
in the State Employees Health Insurance plan because the
n ecessary funds were never appropriated . The motion was
• seconded by Justice Milton Todd and carried by a vote of five
ayes and no noes .
Justice Milton Todd made the motion to authorize the town attor -
n ey to draw up a dog ordinace for the Town of Danby patterned
after the Dog Ordinance in the Town of Caroline . The motion was
seconded by Councilman Paul Smith and carried by a vote of five
ayes and no noes .
The executive session was adjourned at 10 : 00 P . M .
