Town of Cortlandville Parks and Recreation Activity Report
1.Met bi-weekly with the GLSC Committee to discuss park events, project and operational
needs at the facility.
2.Had multiple meetings with Spectrum sales and construction reps to discuss WiFi options
at Town of Cortlandville Parks.
3.Supervised part-time Recreation Attendants & seasonal cleaning staff and submitted pay
roll paper work as needed.
4.Attended Town of Cortlandville Department Head meeting in October and November.
5.Coordinated with Joe Brown and Crown City Little League for Cortland State Baseball
team fall community service project at Testa Park.
6.Coordinated with Smith Construction for the replacement of the backstop netting at GLSC
during the week of October 16th.
7.Attended the October and November 2023 Cortland Regional Sports Council board
meetings.
8.Continued to meet daily with Jacob Rivers to discuss park maintenance needs and help
develop a list of winterization task.
9.Met with Machell Phelps to develop a Request For Proposal (RFP) for the phase 2
feasibility study.
10.Researched firms that conduct athletic facility/ economic impact studies to send out RFP
and worked with Thoma Development staff to send to MWBE planning vendors to meet
grant goals.
11.Assisted the fall COED softball league with field reservation at both Testa Park and
Blodgett Mills.
12.Attended multiple meeting to discuss the planning of a new concession building at
Gtuchess Lumber Sports Complex. Meetings with engineers, on-site visits and contractor
phone calls.
13.Met with Thoma Development staff to discuss in-kind service documentation for the
NYSPRHP grant for the concession building and amenities.
14.Attended sexual harassment training for all Town of Cortlandville staff members.
15.Attended a Guthrie Medical Center grand opening ceremony to represent the Town of
Cortlandville with Amanda Rainbow.
16.Developed a Rotary Club presentation regarding the history, participation data, features
and economic impact of GLSC on the Cortland Community and presented details to the
morning rotary club.
17.Reviewed the feasibility study proposals that were submitted and contact the firms with
questions and let them know our timeline.
18.Attended a meeting with PBRT staff, Machell Phelps and 8 area hotel representatives to
discuss the 2024 calendar of tournaments and meet the new group travel vendor.
19.Contacted Brandon Gaultz regarding him serving on the Town of Cortlandville Parks and
Recreation Commission to fill the void by John Folmer. Brandon is very interested in
contributing to the group.
20. Submitted an article for the Town of Cortlandville newsletter the Talk of the Town.
21. Met with Larry Drach regarding electric and light installation in the new dugouts at
GLSC.
22. Developed a draft Town of Cortlandville concession stand contract agreement if a
vendor is desired for the new concession area.
23. Began researching shade structures for bleachers and playground for town parks
per the NYSPRHP grant.
