Cortland County is calling upon all eligible voters in Cortland County to make their voices heard and participate in the upcoming election. Elections provide us with the chance to choose the leaders who will shape our community's future, and every vote matters. By participating in local elections, you help ensure that your values, concerns, and hopes for the future are reflected in the decisions made by our elected officials. Key Information for the November 7, 2023 Election in Cortland County: • Date: November 7, 2023 • Polling Places: If you do not know the location of your polling site, go to https://voterlookup.elections.ny.gov/ to look it up. • Early Voting: Beginning on October 28, 2023 to November 5, 2023, you will be eligible to vote early before the November 7, 2023 General Election. The Early Voting polling site for Cortland County is located at 112 River Street, Cortland NY 13045, in the rear of the building. The entrance at the front of the building is handicap accessible. The remaining dates and times for Early Voting are as follows: • Friday, November 3, 2023: 9am-5pm • Saturday, November 4, 2023: 9am to 5pm • Sunday, November 5, 2023: 9am to 5pm *If you vote during the early voting period, you are not eligible to vote on Election Day. We urge all Cortland County residents who are eligible to vote to make a plan for voting in the upcoming election. Here are a few essential steps to prepare: 1. Confirm Your Polling Place: Locate your designated polling place or find information on early voting locations. 2. Research the Candidates: Take the time to learn about the candidates running for local offices, including their platforms, experience, and positions on issues important to you. 3. Plan Your Vote: Decide on the most convenient time to cast your vote, whether on Election Day or during early voting if available. 4. Remember to flip over your ballot and make your voice heard on the propositions on the back of the ballot, which includes a County proposition to reduce the number of legislative districts to 15 beginning January 1, 2028.
