SPECIAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
November 21 , 1974
The Town Board of the Town of Danby held a special meeting with the
people interested in preserving the Town Hall . The meeting was
held at the Town Hall , Town of Danby , Tompkins County , New York at
7 : 30 P . M .
Board members present : Supervisor A . Francis Wright
Justice Milton Todd
Councilman Ralph Wilbur
Board members absent : Councilman Clyde Carrier
Justice Floyd Dorn
Others present : Gould Coleman , John Novarr , Richard Thaler Attorney ,
Ernest Cole , Edward Slights , Betty Melchin , Esther and Arch Dotson ,
Paul Makasco and Bob Boehlecke Architect .
The group of people ' interested in preserving the Town Hall presented
their option to the Town Board for consideration . They wish. to
renovate the Town Hall and feel it can be done for less money than
the figure quoated by the Planning Board . They also suggested the
possibility of transferring the building to the Historical Society
and letting them renovate the building and lease it back to the
town . They asked that their option be considered in a referendum
along with any other options that the Town Board may consider . •
Attorney Thaler advised the Town Board on the - legal aspects of
what can and cannot be done by the town in appropriating town funds .
The architect discussed the financing and suggested that the costs
of the options be compared . A lengthy discussion followed . The
Town Board said they were not ready to commit themselves at the
present time but wanted to listen to everyone . A referendum is
expensive and they want to study all aspects of the situation
carefully . By January 1 , 1975 they will have . to commit themselves .
Supervisor A . Francis Wright stated that the Youth Budget for 1975
should be approved . Councilman Ralph Wilbur -made the motion to
approve the Youth Budget for 1975 in the -amount of $4 , 590 . 00 and
the Supervisor be given authorization to apply ' for the state aid
for the youth program . The motion was seconded by Justice Milton
Todd .

Carried three ayes and no noes .
The meeting was adjourned at 9 : 30 P . M .

RESOLUTION #25 APPROVE THE YOUTH BUDGET FOR
1975 IN THE AMOUNT OF $4 , 590 . 00
WHEREAS , at a special meeting of the Danby Town Board , at the
Town Hall Town of Danby , Tompkins County , New York , on November
21 , 1974 , it was ,
RESOLVED , that the Youth Budget for 1975 in the amount of $4 , 590 . 00
be adopted as presented , and be it further ,
RESOLVED, that the supervisor be given authorization to apply for
the state aid for the youth program .
Moved by Councilman Ralph Wilbur
Seconded by Justice Milton Todd .
