LEGAL NOTICE
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Public Hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town of
Cortlandville on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the parties may be
heard, at the Raymond G. Thorpe Municipal Building located at 3577 Terrace Road, Cortland, New
York concerning the enactment of a Local Law of 2023 to override the limit on the amount of real
property taxes that may be levied by the Town of Cortlandville pursuant to General Municipal
Law Section 3-c, to allow the Town of Cortlandville to adopt a town budget for (a) town purposes
and (b) any other special or improvement district governed by the Town Board for the fiscal year
2024 that requires a real property tax levy in excess of the “tax levy limit” as defined by General
Municipal Law Section 3-c.
At said public hearing all persons wishing to comment on the proposed Local Law shall be given an
opportunity to be heard. Written comments may be submitted prior to or at the public hearing. The
text of the proposed Local Law is available for examination at the office of the Town Clerk and is
also available online at cortlandville.org.
