APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Thompson made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 5, 2004 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Richardson. Motion carried 3-0. New Position Duties Statement and Adoption of Job Description: Department of Public Works - Senior Engineering Technician (temporary) The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Department of Public Works and the proposed job description for Senior Engineering Technician. The Department of Public Works is requesting a six month temporary position to assist the Engineering Division during the construction season. Commissioner Thompson made a motion to create a temporary Senior Engineering Technician position for the period June 2, 2004 through November 30, 2004 and to adopt the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Richardson. Motion carried 3-0. New Position Duties Statement: Department of Public Works - Office Manager The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Water and Sewer Division of the Department of Public Works. Commissioner Thompson made a motion to classify the position as Office Manager. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 3-0. New Position Duties Statement and Adoption of Job Description: DPW - Geographic Information System Database Programmer The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement for a new position in the Department of Public Works and the proposed job description for Geographic Information System Database Programmer. Commissioner Richardson made a motion to classify the position as Geographic Information System Database Programmer and adopt the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Thompson. Motion carried 3-0. Commissioner Richardson made a motion to classify the position as Utilities Systems Location Technician and adopt the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Thompson. Motion carried 3-0. New Position Duties Statement and Adoption of Job Description: Ithaca Fire Department - Financial Clerk The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement for a new position in the Ithaca Fire Department and the proposed job description for Financial Clerk. Commissioner Thompson made a motion to classify the position as Financial Clerk and adopt the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Richardson. Motion carried 3- 0. EXECUTIVE SESSION Commissioner Richardson made a motion to enter into executive session to discuss a Section 71 reinstatement request and civil service examination matters. Seconded by Commissioner Thompson. Motion carried 3-0. During executive session, the Commission took the following actions: Appointment of Section 71 Medical Officer Commissioner Richardson made a motion to appoint Dr. Russell Zelko as the medical officer for an independent medical examination to be conducted pursuant to Section 71 of NYS Civil Service Law. Seconded by Commissioner Thompson. Motion carried 3-0. CONTINUING BUSINESS Approval of Roster of Candidates for Examination Commissioner Thompson made a motion to approve the Roster of Candidates for Examination for Housing Inspector Examination #76-125. Seconded by Commissioner Eastman. Motion carried 3-0. Establishment of Eligible Lists Julie Holcomb-CSC Minutes 0604.doc Pa•e 3 Civil Service Commission June 2, 2004 Page 3 Commissioner Eastman made a motion to establish the eligible lists specified below for the time period indicated. Seconded by Commissioner Thompson. Motion carried 3-0.
