Approval of Minutes
The February 24, 2016 and March 23, 2016 minutes were approved without corrections.
Rainwater Art Project
Nine sites have been approved by Public Works. The PAC went through the list of google
doc slogans and chose which ones they preferred. Sally will send the results of the PAC vote
to Megan and she will send out 15-20 to the public, asking them to identify their top 9
choices. The PAC will make choose locations for the top 9 choices before sending the
project to the Common Council for final approval.
Sally suggested that people consider how text/images reads spatially on the ground as
they walk viewing them when choosing.
Green Street Painting by Bill Benson
Alderperson George McGonigal suggested that that PAC consider the purchase of Benson's
4' x 4' painting using the Centennial Art Trust Fund. The PAC voted unanimously against
recommending the purchase with these funds. No site to hang this work of art had been
identified, and PAC members thought these funds would be better used as a match to
support grant applications.

Approved-5/25/16
The use of these funds should be added to a future agenda for PAC to make a
recommendation.
Mural Proposal: "Portals to Peace"by Lachlan Chambliss
The mural proposal is for the east wall of the Green Street Garage as you enter and exit the
upper levels. The intent is to illustrate the welcoming Muslim culture and community.
Most members of PAC felt that proposed mural was not suited to chosen garage site,
because of the dark earth tone color scheme, content complexity, too close proximity to
another mural in same area, and the garages car"drive by"viewing nature.
They would like to help find another site for the whole mural, or suggest breaking up the 5
mural windows to be placed throughout the Downtown area.
Caleb suggest that the PAC should do a walk around downtown Ithaca with Nagiane Lacka
Arriaza to help find another site(s) for mural.
2016 More Boxes
The original RFP did not result in many proposals so Megan will be re-issuing a revised RFP
for the 3 Commons electrical boxes.
Since the State-owned boxes will not be available to paint this year, the PAC decided to use
the remainder of the CAP grant on the 7 new mid-sized, City-owned boxes around the
Commons. The PAC could then apply for another grant for the State-owned boxes in 2017.
Mural Proposal: "Beyond the Dust"by Danielle Hodgins
The mural proposal was approved by the Planning Committee and will be considered by
the full Common Council on May 4th. The PAC members agreed to help with cleanup of the
wall at the DPW building.
Next meeting scheduled for May 25, 2016
