CITY OF ITHACA

In Attendance: Nina Bassuk, Frank Gardner, George Hudler, Don Rakow, Larry
Fabbroni , Mike Steigerwalt, Monika Crispin, Marvin Adleman,
Tom Ranney
Absent: Sue Cummings, Doris Ivey, Jim LaGro, Tom McGuire, Jon Meigs
Minutes from last meeting were reviewed and approved.
Inventory
Nina has been giving talks on Street Tree Inventory Results - information is
being positively received.
Data to be published as a booklet.
Training for Adam Carmen - entering new information into computer to keep
inventory up-to-date.
Ordinance
Need to publicize information in ordinance once passed to contractors/general
public.
Tree City Status
Not possible to get status this year according to DEC. Larry will check with
Sam MacNeil 's Office.
Tree Removal
1/2 trees on removed list have been taken down. Tree orders sent out at the
end of February. (48 ordered) . City crews will also be planting center?.
Bid specs on branchup height might need to be looked at. - Add to ordinance
page 2. - Planting - minimum branching height for street trees shall be 4'
trained to a single central leader standard or to a typical shape for species,
cultivar; no unhealed pruning scars 7 1/2" in diameter.
Arbor Day
Monika will call Major Journal and report back at next meeting.
Landscaping Ordinance
Site plan renew standards being prepared by city, includes landscape planting
site plan renew - may want to expand information in draft. Renew Jim LaGro's
draft Landscaping Ordinance - be prepared to comment at next meeting.
Training
Planned for March 24 at 12:30 - DPW on Pruning.
