Saul, Thys VanCort (Director of Planning & Development) Others Present: Mayor Alan J. Cohen Commissioner Bantuvanis called the meeting to order at 11:02 a.m. Mayor Cohen spoke to the Commission about the proposed job description for Director of Economic Development and advised the Commission that he supports the job description as proposed. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Desch made a motion to approve the minutes of the October 6, 1997 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. NEW BUSINESS AUTHORIZATION TO DIRECT A PUBLIC HEARING Commissioner Desch made a motion to direct a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the Civil Service Rules. The amendment will delete the position of Personnel Administrator from the non- competitive class. The public hearing will be held on Monday - December 8, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT: DPW-WORKING SUPERVISOR(SANITATION) The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Department of Public Works. Commissioner Desch made a motion to classify the position as Working Supervisor (Sanitation). Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT AND ADOPTION OF JOB DESCRIPTION: DPW - BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND SOLID WASTE SUPERVISOR The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Department of Public Works and a proposed job description for Building Maintenance and Solid Waste Supervisor. Commissioner Desch made a motion to classify the position as Building Maintenance and Solid Waste Supervisor and adopt the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. Civil Service Commission Meeting November 3, 1997 Page 2 OLD BUSINESS NEW POSITION DUTIES STATEMENT AND ADOPTION OF JOB DESCRIPTION: PLANNING DEPARTMENT - DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT The Commission reviewed and discussed a New Position Duties Statement from the Planning Department and a proposed job description for Director of Economic Development. Commissioner Desch made a motion to classify the position as Director of Economic Development and adopt the job description as proposed. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0. CONTINUING BUSINESS Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss civil service examination matters. Seconded by Commissioner Desch. Motion carried 2-0. During Executive Session, the Commission took the following actions: APPROVAL OF ROSTERS OF CANDIDATES FOR EXAMINATION Commissioner Desch made a motion to approve the Rosters of Candidates for Examination listed below. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis. Motion carried 2-0.
