Baker ( CSEA Administrative Unit Vice-President ) . ABSENT: Commissioner Cooper . Commissioner Bantuvanis called the meeting to order at 3 : 47 pm. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Perko made a motion to accept the minutes of the May meeting . Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis . Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS Acting Chief Water Treatment Plant Operator Robert Simpson asked the Commission why the Department of Public Works has not yet filled the position of Chief Water Treatment Plant Operator when the eligible list was established in February. A letter was also presented to the Commission from CSEA Administrative Unit Vice-President William Baker asking the same question . Mr . Simpson stated that City Engineer William Gray had told him the reason the Department had not filled the position is because the City is considering contracting out the operation of the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants . The Commission did not have any information as to the questions raised and asked Personnel Administrator Walker to forward a copy of Mr . Baker ' s letter to City Engineer Bill Gray with a request that he respond with information on the issue. OLD BUSINESS CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION FEES Personnel Administrator Walker advised the Commission that she had discussed the issue of examination fees with the Budget and Administration Committee and that the Committee was willing to waive the proposed civil service examination fees for applicants and absorb the fees billed by the New York State Department of Civil Service . Further discussion was held on the issue , the options available and the ramifications of implementing application fees . Commissioner Bantuvanis expressed some concern as to whether it is appropriate for the City to assume responsibility for the examination costs . 24 _ 1 June 13 , 1989 meeting - Page 2 Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion to table the issue until the next meeting so the full Commission could discuss it . Seconded by Commissioner Perko . Motion carried. CONTINUING BUSINESS EXECUTIVE SESSION Commissioner Bantuvanis made a motion that the Commission go into Executive Session to discuss civil service examination matters . Seconded by Commissioner Perko . After Executive Session , the Commission took the following actions : APPROVAL OF ROSTERS OF CANDIDATES FOR EXAMINATION Commissioner Perko made a motion to approve the Rosters of Candidates for Examination as listed below. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis .
