SPECIAL MEETING
CITY OF ITHACA CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
September 15, 1987
Present: Commissioner Bantuvanis , Commissioner Cooper, Executive Secretary Pezdek
Commissioner Cooper called the meeting to order at 4:10 P.M.
The regular meeting scheduled for the pervious day could not be held due to
a combination of illness and schedule conflicts. The regular meeting has
been rescheduled for Thursday September 24, 1986 at 3:45 P.M.
ELIGIBLE LISTS
Commissioner Bantuvanis moved that the following eligible lists be established
effective September 15, 1987 and that they be in effect for one year unless
exhausted sooner: Assistant Superintendent of Public Works, No. 67-249; Police
Sergeant, No. 75-353; Clerk, No. 1987-5 and Library Clerk, No. 1987-6.
Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis .
The Commission reviewed the eligible lists then voted. Motion carried unanimously.
YOUTH BUREAU DIRECTOR ELIGIBLE LIST - EXTENSION
Commissioner Cooper moved that the eligible list for Youth Bureau Director, No.60-
878 be extended for one year and expire on September 16, 1988 unless exhausted
sooner. Seconded by Commissioner Bantuvanis.
The Commission discussed the history of the eligible list and the fact that there
were on appointments from it. Commissioner Bantuvanis asked a number of
technical questions of the Executive Secretary about the list. Commissioner
Cooper remarked the Commission must be fair to candidates who took the examination
in good faith.
The Commission then held a general discussion on the subject. Following the
discussion it voted. Motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Cooper adjourned the meeting at 4:15 P.M.
