CITY OF ITHACA CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION

Present: Commissioner Slaght, Commissioner Schickel , Civil Service Administrator

Commissioner Slaght called the meeting to order at 8:05 P.M.
NEW BUSINESS
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Schickel moved that the minutes of the March meeting be approved.
Seconded by Commissioner Slaght. Motion carried.
YOUTH DIVERSION COORDINATOR - POSITION SPECIFICATION
Commissioner Slaght presented a position specification for Youth Diversion
Coordinator to the Commission and moved that it be approved, and in addition,
that the position be placed in the competitive classification. Seconded
by Commissioner Schickel .
The Commission reviewed the history of the position as well as the specification.
Following which the Commission voted. Motion carried.
ROSTERS OF CANDIDATES
Commissioner Slaght moved that the following Rosters of Candidates for
Examination be approved: Automotive Mechanic Supervisor, No. 72-591, Prom. ;
Automotive Mechanic Supervisor, No. 64--69, OC; Youth Development Program
No. 63-995 and Youth Development Program Supervisor, No. 64-104. �,; � ;
Seconded by Commissioner Schickel . ,.��
The Commission reviewed the types of examinations to be given and the (
rosters then voted. Motion carried.
RE-CLASSIFICATION SURVEY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
Commissioner Slaght moved that the Re-Classification Survey of the Department
of Public Works incorporate the position •ecifications as prepared by
the Civil Service Administrator and the Surbey be released to the Superintendent
of Public Works and the Chairman of the :..r. of Public Works (the Mayor) for
their review and comments. Seconded by Commissioner Slaght.
The Commission reviewed the Survey in detail and discussed various parts
of it.
Following the discussion the Commission voted. Motion carried. The Commission
directed Mr. Pezdek to establish the schedule to be followed and to review
the Survey with the Superintendent and Mayor/ prior to the Commission's
meeting with them.
RE-CLASSIFICATION OF CUSTODIAL WORKER POSITION AT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Commissioner Schickel presented to the Commisslon a Position Classification
Questionaire and a New Position Duties Statement from the Ithaca City
School District requesting that a position of Custodial Worker be re-classified
to Custodian and moved that it be approved. Seconded by Commissioner Slaght.
The Commission discussed the request and revieved the documents/then voted.
Motion carried.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. The following examination has been announced: Storekeeper, No. 64-729.
2. Copies of the NYPE Reporter were distributed.
3. The September 1986 examination series have been announced to appointing officers .
